Placeholders in the Trasformations for Sevice detection rules

Hello,

I defined a Service Detection rule to catch some external web requests. I would like to name this request using the request domain name and a subpart of the URL. Is it possible in the transformation to use the placeholders (as in the Service naming rule)?

Regards,

Alberto

Hi Alberto,

You should be able to use a placeholder or multiple for the service naming rule, please check the Dynatrace Documentation for more details  https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/custom-service-names#custom-rules and https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/request-naming-rules

Thanks,

M

Hello @Mo_Azuz ,

I know about the placeholder in the service naming rule, but I asked for inserting the placeholder in the Transformations inside the Service detection rules. Is it possible?

Hi Alberto,

I think the placeholder option is not available here, as you mentioned, it's available on service naming rules, so you can create a naming rule for external services

just forgot to mention that you can create the External web request rule first, then create a service naming rule for the external services
