Hello Dynatrace Community,
I am currently reviewing the Dynatrace Classic licensing documentation for Dynatrace Managed to do some capacity planning.
According to the official documentation, an HTTP monitor consumes 0.1 DEM units per synthetic request.
My question is: Does this 0.1 DEM rate apply equally whether the HTTP monitor is executed from a Public Location or a Private Location (on-premises ActiveGate)? Or is there a differentiation in the consumption?
I would appreciate it if you could clarify how Dynatrace Managed handles this currently.
Thank you.
Aboud
Hi,
I am not aware of any difference.
Best regards
Hi @Aboud1
The Dynatrace documentation explicitly states: “It doesn’t matter if the monitoring location is public or private” when calculating HTTP Monitor DEM consumption
For DEM unit billing purposes, the consumption rate is identical regardless of location type.
Thanks,
Sujit
Exactly what is stated - there is no difference. This is one of the reasons we see very limited adoption of synthetic tests among our customer base. It’s simply too expensive compared to other tools, even when executed from your private locations, where the cost of running them is on the customer side.
