Alerting IBM Datapower Internal Backend Services

Hello there,

We are monitoring Datapower Instances. Dynatrace can detect the front-end services and set alerts for things like failure rates, Response times, etc.

But we also need to monitor (in terms of errors and failure detection) the internal backend services that are part of those IBM Datapower instances. All I can be alerted to is the alerting provided by extensions, such as "Service is down, Critical load, connectivity lost, etc." That does not help when the internal services are having any 5xx issues.

For Ex: Musaned is a widely used Labour recruiting app in KSA. In the Dynatrace services being monitored, I see the front-end services like MusanedController or Services detected through the IBM instance like GetMusanedLaborersInformationAppPrj, etc. We get a failure rate detection for it. But not on the internal services like Datapower extension services i.e.

Note: I believe we can create custom-level metric event monitoring with the help of endpoints, but it is a manual process and costs extra DDUs, too, and we have more than 600 of those services. How do we move forward on this? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
