Service Load Spike and Drop Detection for Specific Management Zone

Sohel_Rashid

Hi All,

We are checking the Anomaly Detection settings under Settings → Anomaly detection → Services in Dynatrace Managed.

Currently, options like:

  • Detect service load drops
  • Detect service load spikes

are getting applied globally across the environment.

Our requirement is to enable these alert settings only for a specific Management Zone instead of the entire environment.

Could you please confirm:

  1. Is it possible to configure Service load drop/spike anomaly detection Management Zone wise?
  2. Is there any workaround using custom anomaly detection, metric events, or alerting profiles?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sohel Rashid

No, simply this is not possible. A service may be included in multiple management zones.

You can apply the settings on different levels:

  • Key request
  • Service
  • Host group
  • Environment

See more at https://docs.dynatrace.com/managed/shortlink/api-v2-settings-get-schemas-builtin-anomaly-detection-s.... A recommendation will depend on your data segmentation - most likely you will want to have this set on the hostgroup level. If it does not fit your case, you will need to set this on individual services.
