Let me start with my one and only ultimate favorite book from my early years, iconic "Le Petit Nicolas" written by French duo of Renรฉ Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempรฉ, in Poland known as simply "Mikoลajek". When I was a little boy, I got so used to listen to tales from that series during the bedtime, that I could not fall asleep without it...

This is a timeless book. Iโve read it several times over the years, with the last time being about 2โ3 years ago. What fascinates me is that each reading reveals something new, as if I were discovering it for the first time. Perhaps itโs the perfect moment to read it again. ๐

One of my most read childhood books was "The little Dragon and his friends". I never gave that one away and still kept it as a childhood memory in my bookshelf.

Pelle Svanslรถs was a beloved part of my childhood growing up in Uppsala. Heโs a kind-hearted, tailless cat who always stood up to bullies with courage and kindness.
His adventures through familiar streets and neighboring towns made it especially familiar, and I still smile when I pass the places tied to his stories.

I'm from the generation that waited for that Hogwarts letter, but in the meantime, there was another book series that stole my heart: "The Series of Unfortunate Events" by Lemony Snicket.
I liked how dark, twisted, and yet hopeful and funny those books are. They treat their readers like adults, and there is NOTHING a child craves more than this (boy, how it changes over age...). Both the movie and Netflix TV series are amazing, so if you're looking for something to watch with your children, you should definitely give it a go!

For me, it was Goosebumps books! But, as I got older, they were less and less scary...

I had no idea it was a book series, too! I used to watch the TV show as a kid, and I vividly remember hiding under the blanket every time the dog's eyes transformed in the opening scene ๐

I really loved Enid Blyton's books. My favorite was The Five Find-Outers, series, with FAT and the other four children always outwiiting Goon , the policeman ๐

Hi,
I spent a good part of my childhood reading books so the choice isn't that easy ๐
I will leave 3 book series that I read young and still look back at them fondly and re-read them every now and then:
1) Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl. Loved all the characters and the whole fairytale aesthetic:
2)Brian Jacques's Redwall series(though I have read only the first 2 books). Speaking animals embarking on perilous journeys facing dangerous foes, put the roots of fantasy deep in me.
3) Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy. The premise and plot was very interesting, but what has stayed with me is the hilarious humour of the main character.
Thanks,
George

Love Artemis Fowl and the Redwall series. Recently thought about purchasing the entire Redwall collection and re-reading them!

"Kamarรกt ฤipko" (My Friend ฤipko) by Slovak author Anton Hykisch and illustrated by the famous illustrator Peter Kฤพรบฤik (also Slovak).
ฤipko is a chip. Written from the perspective of a small boy, the main character discovers that ฤipko has the power to remotely control devices, and this seems like magic to him.
Only today do I realize that this was my gateway to sci-fi and cyberpunk literature ๐

Here are some of my favorites from childhood days, most of these books are now digital only or converted into a animated television series ๐
'Chacha Chaudhary' by Pran
It was about Chacha Chaudhary, the smart elderly man with his clever mind, and his strong friend Sabu, their funny adventures and smart ways to solve problems.
'Tintin' by Herge
Tintin was about a brave young journalist, and his loyal dog Snowy on thrilling journeys around the world, solving mysteries and meeting fascinating characters.
Panchatantra
Panchatantra is a timeless collection of moral tales passed down through generations. With its imaginative use of talking animals and clever storytelling, it was very capitative for young kids

I don't hear too many people talking about this series, but as a kid (yes I was a kid in the early 2000s) I would fly through these adventurous stories.

Well, I think the Musicuentos were revolutionary for their time. They came with a vinyl record to play, adding music and songs to the story โ they were truly innovative.
Also, the Asterix series, and the collections of Robin Hood classics and Choose Your Own Adventure were significant too.

Oau, you really turned me back in time! ๐
I actually remember two childhood favorites, both full of funny stories:
Max and Moritz โ there was even a movie about them. I was around 5โ6 years old, often staying at my grandparentsโ house with my cousin (who was three years older). We decided to act like Max and Moritzโฆ Years later, my mom told me that when she saw the movie, she thought: โSome children will probably try to imitate them โ but which parents will be the unlucky ones?โ Well, the answer turned out to be her and my aunt. ๐
The second book I canโt recall the title of, only the story. It was about a child who was tired of always having to say polite words like โPlease! Thank you! Sorry!โ โะฝะฐ ะฒััะบะฐ ะบัะฐัะบะฐโ (in Bulgarian this literally means โon every stepโ, but really it means โall the time, to everyone you meetโ). The child ran away from home, but after some adventures came back and realized that being polite is actually wonderful. As a little kid, I misunderstood it completely โ I thought that to be a good girl I had to say all three words โ โPlease, Thank you, Sorryโ โ every single time my foot touched the ground while walking! I tried it so seriously, but it was exhausting. Later, when I finally understood what the book really meant, it became one of my funniest childhood memories.
