In the best tradition, all the movies I love just evaporated from my brain when I saw the theme of this month's challenge π As I would never be able to come up with one favorite movie anyway, here is the list:
β17 Oct 2023 02:42 PM
One of my favorite movie of all time
And
Al Pacino is the goat
β17 Oct 2023 03:00 PM
The Devil's Advocate - a super film - I must watch it again!
β17 Oct 2023 02:49 PM
While I enjoy a lot of movies such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars (the last 3 never happened), and some of the Marvel ones, there is one trilogy I enjoy more than the rest, the Dark Knight trilogy.
To me the best one in the trilogy is the second one with the Joker.

My 3 favorites for a yearly re-watch:
Lets start with a bit of cold war satire!
Followed by a work safety instruction video!
And top it off with an old movie which features the now demolished Kowloon Walled City in Hongkong.
β17 Oct 2023 02:57 PM
Just a few, definitely there would be more. Not necessarily in this order.
1. The Devil's advocate
2. 21
3. The Omen (all 3 parts, quite old, but good)
4. The Imitation Game
5. Dark Waters
6. Passengers
7. Deepwater Horizon

10. Equilibrium

β17 Oct 2023 02:59 PM
Hi,
The list of my favourite films opens:
Intouchables - in fact, I don't know how many times I've seen this film.
The next two in order are The Godfather and 12 Angry Men.
And when I'm in the mood for something silly it's American Pie (but only the parts with the original characters, of course).

I enjoy movies with a distinct streak of fun in them. "Leeloo Dallas, multipass!"
β18 Oct 2023 05:42 AM
My favorite movie is Sister Act (1992) and The Devil Wears Prada (2003)

For me that would be Pulp Fiction

β18 Oct 2023 07:51 AM
For me, the biggest cinematic masterpiece of all time is Titanic by James Cameron. π₯ I rewatched it on its 25-year anniversary in 3D last year, and I left the cinema speechless. The music, the acting, the plot, the scenography, everything is just perfect and timeless. π
But cinema didn't end 25 years ago, obviously! π When it comes to more modern movies, I enjoyed La La Land a lot (best soundtrack ever) and Palm Springs, the best romantic (?) comedy I've seen in a long time.
β18 Oct 2023 07:56 AM
For me (hard choice to make between so many) the regulars that I always go back to:
1. Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola (1992) - Gary Oldman is AMAZING
2. The Fountain by Daren Aronofsky
...and ALWAYS AND FOREVER: Lord of the Rings!

I also like mind blowing movies, specially this one:
That's the movie who make me fall in love with Gyllenhaal.
And I would like to mention this other one above, it is not great, but it did inspired me in so many ways.
β19 Oct 2023 06:58 PM
Ohhh this is a tough challenge! Especially for a Libra π
Sooo many good movies in so many genres to choose from.
(And sooo many bad ones to ignore π)
The Best Film ever, especially in the category Westerns. (And I loooove Westerns, so I have more than a fist full titles to choose from that are Good, bad and Ugly):
Once Upon a Time in the West - as it happens from by birth year
- Frank: Morton once told me I could never be like him. Now I understand why. ...
- Harmonica: So, you found out you're not a businessman after all.
- Frank: Just a man.
- Harmonica: An ancient race. Other Mortons'll be along, and they'll kill it off.
- Frank: The future don't matter to us. ...
- Harmonica: Only at the point of dyin'.
Special mention of DJANGO UNCHAINED.
I like anything Tarantino
Vincent : You know what they put on French fries in Holland instead of ketchup?
Jules : What?
Vincent : Mayonnaise.
Jules : Goddamn.
Vincent : I've seen 'em do it, man. They fuckin' drown 'em in that shit.
Anything with Johnny Depp
War movies, definitly
The Longest Day, Schindlerβs List, Das Boot, Saving Private Ryan, 1917, Glory, Band of Brothers, The Pacific...
Everybody already seen Oppenheimer?
I am a big fan of the better sci-fi and post-apocalyptic movies.
The Matrix, Mad Max, Inception, Tenant, The Fifth Element, 001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Blade Runner, ET, Back to the Future, Minority Report, Oblivion, Interstellar, Contact, Hunger Games, the list is endless π
And I am a huge fan of cinematograpic ground breaking movies, like camera work and special effects.
The Matrix, Dr Strange (2016), Jurrasic Park (1), Avatar, Titanic...
and of course, the best film ever made:
Brian: Look, you've got it all wrong! You don't need to follow me. You don't need to follow anybody! You've got to think for yourselves! You're all individuals!
Crowd: Yes! We're all individuals!
Brian: You're all different!
Crowd: Yes, we are all different!
Man in crowd: I'm not...
Crowd: Shhh!
and let's not forget about Spaceballs and the Austin Powers trilogy π
I'm afraid I'm forgetting a few titles...
β20 Oct 2023 09:57 AM
Yessss to all the above, especially the Tarantino movies! π
β20 Oct 2023 07:43 AM
To my embarrassment, I forgot to mention this master piece...
"They Send You Here For Life, And That's Exactly What They Take."
β24 Oct 2023 07:26 PM

I love pretty much anything by Wes Anderson, but my favorite is probably Moonrise Kingdom (followed by Fantastic Mr. Foxπ
a GREAT who-done-it is Knives Out
For my documentary buffs (and foodies) out there, Jiro Dreams of Sushi is one of the best documentaries I've ever seen:
and for my outdoors doc rec: Free Solo was very interesting and beautifully shot, but I saw it in the theater and was absolutely terrified the entire time:
β
I took a Spanish Cinematography class in college that introduced me to these incredible Spanish-language films:
The Motorcycle Diaries , All About My Mother, and Machuca
β
And finally, somebody already said The Shawshank Redemption - but it gets another mention because it's the only movie I've ever watched where I finished it and immediately started it over and watched it again I liked it so much.
β25 Oct 2023 07:48 AM
Fantastic Mr. Fox is such a hilarious movie! My favorite Wes Anderson movies are The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Life Aquatic. Thanks for recommending the Spanish movies; it sounds like a plan for the weekend!

β29 Oct 2023 09:06 PM
Some of my favorite movies growing up as a kid were heavily based in Asian Culture. That being said, anything that was produced by Studio Ghibli has got to be in my top list, but my all time favorite is Spirited Away.
Also a little bonus here - the instrumentals and visuals from this movie still touch my heart to this day.
β02 Nov 2023 12:18 PM
Truly a masterpiece in every single way!
And yes, I listen to the soundtrack regularly: breathtaking!
β31 Oct 2023 08:27 AM
