Even though they are old and I watched way too many series since I think my favorite tv-shows are still Friends and the Stargate SG-1. I'm sure that I'm remembering them with rose-colored glasses though.

Looking at a bit more recent series I can recommend Sherlock, Arcane and The Mandalorian.

There are also some series where the first season was great, but that fell off afterwards, like Heroes, Westworld, Prison break and Dexter, but in regards to the above ones I liked all seasons.

Star wars, Marvel and Scrubs I love too. It's really hard to name Top 5, 10 or 20 - I Loved 100's of shows and each in different categories

Was not expecting to see Fringe on anyone's list!

Such a great show, completely underrated (at least, here in Portugal).

Watched it several times: always delivers!

Best regards, Pedro Deodato

I'm glad you like it too! - The first season always felt like separate episodes, but season 2 on wards created the overall arch and season had a arch, so it all fell into place and the build up was amazing! - I might start to re-watch it ๐Ÿ˜„

Oh you just unlocked some cool memories with mentioning "Fringe" ๐Ÿ™ˆ thank you! I used to love the show!

The only constant is change. Finding ways for great things to happen!

Of course, Friends!

So many options, my Plex library is way to big ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with @Mike_L on Friends and SG, though the rose-colored glasses part is probably right ๐Ÿ™‚

For more recent and somewhat tech related I'd recommend Silicon Valley and Black Mirror, both are excellent I think.  Also Scrubs I'd always recommend for good laughs.

On one hand, as a huge cinematography enthusiast myself, I feel like was born for this challenge. But on the other? It ought to be the toughest challenge of all -- how am I supposed to narrow down my list to only 1-3-5 favorite shows? :shocked_cat:

If I tried, thought, I'd have to go with:

  1. Broadchurch (a study in humanity and horrors of real life, can't recommend enough.)
  2. Midnight Mass (an interesting view on vampirism and Christianity, on horrory side of things ๐Ÿ˜…)
  3. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (season 1 is a master piece in foreshadowing, but also absurdity at its best. A fun watch with a huge aha! moment.)
  4. Fargo (season 1 has been on my rewatch list for the last three winters, and will stay there for a few more. For me it's way better than the movie.)
  5. Severance (it's a 2022 production with only 1 season out, but it's quite promising. A work-life balance concept taken a little too far.)

Can't wait to check out all the pieces from others' lists I haven't seen yet! Cheers ๐Ÿ˜Š

I couldn't narrow down my list either so I broke it down per streaming service ๐Ÿ˜‚.

That's a cool "workaround" ๐Ÿ˜„

Same! I couldn't just get over with the ending and the only question I had left was why?

The Witcher! Of course, how could I forget the show based on the Polish source material ๐Ÿ˜

This will be too difficult to narrow things down, but the latest show to grip my attention (get through the first 3 episodes to see if you'll like it) is Andor on Disney+.

If you're looking for a fun and quirky detective show, Castle is a big favorite of mine (starring Nathan Fillion). Brooklyn 99 is also a great show in a similar vein.

The Star Trek TOS, TNG, and Voyager were big pieces of my childhood, and the new Lower Decks animated comedy is perfect if you like poking fun at the Trek universe.

There's so many others to name, but I'll leave it at that for now!

Nine nine! ๐Ÿ’ช

What a great list ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, forgot about "detective" shows... For me, Castle and especially The Mentalist.

Let's not forget about Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It is a highly-rated detective show around my place. Still I need to watch that one but I heard a lot about it.

Love more, hate less; Technology for all, together we grow.

My list:

  1. Band of Brothers - You have it all here, leadership, humanity, action, friendship... I think it's by far the best series I've ever seen.
  2. X-Files - Yes, it's old now, but it sets the stage for thousand very similar shows to come later.
  3. Chernobyl - I was a little boy when this happened, but in the series you can find the best and the worst of human behavior.
  4. Mad-Men. I guess a lot has been said about this great show. But the recreation of the atmosphere of that time is great.
  5. The IT Crowd. Well, this is a must for every IT worker. Hilarious.
The true delight is in the finding out rather than in the knowing.

I almost forgot to mention the Chernobyl series. It was amazing. Thanks Daniel to share it.

Lot of memories came in my mind. I was 12 at that time and it was not so far from my city (800km / 500 miles). It was frightening for us. My my brother-in-law was born in this year. He was choosen with other hungarian new borns and he was examined year by year when he was kid (affected or not affected by the radiation). Luckily he is healthy.

Oh wow, thank you for sharing this part of your story with us! Being born after the tragedy, I didn't experience it first-hand, only the consequences, and it's quite insightful to see how different countries were managing that.

Chornobyl! Such a great show, but also a pretty accurate take on the tragedy that took place in my homeland. Watched it with tears in my eyes. Totally agree with the duality of men being the central theme of it and showing it is perfectly executed!

So, I'm not going to put a lot of them, as I love most of the suggestions above. And there are also a lot of them to discover?

The remaining list of mine is the following:

  • A-Team: One of my favorite professional quotes, by Hannibal Smith: "I love it when a plan comes together."
  • MacGyver: As a kid, I couldn't get enough ideas to experiment ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Galactica. Probably the sci-fi series I still love the most. The original series, of course, specifically the 1980 series, when they discover Earth. So, so funny, on how extraterrestrial life can look at us!
Antonio Sousa

MacGyver was one of my favorites from my childhood, everyone who saw it was eager to get a Victorinox.

  3. Chernobyl
  4. The Simpsons
  5. Lie to Me

Some pretty interesting recommendations in this topic, I have to update my "to-watch" list!

  • Bojack Horseman
  • Rome
  • Doctor Who

My recommendation to everyone is that,

  • Naruto (Complete 700 Episodes)
  • The Start up (K-Drama)
  • Supernatural
  • Vampire Dairies
  • Alice (K-Drama)
  • Arrow (DC Comics)

These series literally made me cry and kept me excited the whole time while watching it.

Love more, hate less; Technology for all, together we grow.

I loved Vampire Dairies! Nice to see it!
Arrow is a great DC TV Series, DC nailed the TV Series.. I love Gotham too and Small Ville ๐Ÿ™‚

DC TV series are great. Need to catch up on them. You are right - Gotham and SmallVille were great. Too many TV shows!

Yes, Tom. Gotham is good one too. After watching it, then I got my answer on how many unsung heroes are there in the story of Batman.

Supernatural! Maybe the first lengthy series I got invested in, started watching it when I was around 12 ๐Ÿ˜…Forgot about it for a few years just to learn about the last season airing and binge-watch it during Covid. Was so sad to say goodbye!

Black Mirror +++ very intelligent show. Other dystopian future shows/movie depend on making the future world look like a sort of hell, Black Mirror sort of subtlety manages to show you how awful things could get with the current path of social tech.

Some I am currently watching (I think most of them have already been mentioned):

  • The Peripheral (just started to watch)
  • Westworld (new season)
  • Babylon Berlin (new season)
  • House of the dragon (just started to watch)
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

But also a few older good series:

  • Friends
  • The Office
  • Breaking Bad
  • Game of Thrones

Babylon Berlin is SO good! Probably the first Noir series I've ever stumbled upon, and it's so worth it!

To me are these:

Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul .

Better Call Saul is the BEST. Loved the picture taken from mostly episodes... The kind of TV Show that got done right in time, before get a crap ending such as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones...

I also like these short comedy shows, with 20 min episodes, such as Seinfield, TBBT, 99, Malcon, etc.

And, of course, the mind breaker shows, like Dark.
