Even though they are old and I watched way too many series since I think my favorite tv-shows are still Friends and the Stargate SG-1. I'm sure that I'm remembering them with rose-colored glasses though.
Looking at a bit more recent series I can recommend Sherlock, Arcane and The Mandalorian.
There are also some series where the first season was great, but that fell off afterwards, like Heroes, Westworld, Prison break and Dexter, but in regards to the above ones I liked all seasons.

Was not expecting to see Fringe on anyone's list!
Such a great show, completely underrated (at least, here in Portugal).
Watched it several times: always delivers!
โ21 Nov 2022 12:52 PM
I'm glad you like it too! - The first season always felt like separate episodes, but season 2 on wards created the overall arch and season had a arch, so it all fell into place and the build up was amazing! - I might start to re-watch it ๐
โ25 Nov 2022 10:35 AM
Oh you just unlocked some cool memories with mentioning "Fringe" ๐ thank you! I used to love the show!
โ18 Nov 2022 07:38 PM
Of course, Friends!
โ06 May 2024 08:04 AM
I can only agree with Stargate ^^

So many options, my Plex library is way to big ๐
I agree with @Mike_L on Friends and SG, though the rose-colored glasses part is probably right ๐
For more recent and somewhat tech related I'd recommend Silicon Valley and Black Mirror, both are excellent I think. Also Scrubs I'd always recommend for good laughs.

"Sons of Scotland
What would you do without freedom?
Will you fight?
Fight and you may die,
Run and you will live,
At least a while...
And dying in your beds,
Many years from now, would you be willing to trade,
All the days from this day to that
For one chance just one chance
To come back here and tell our enemys
That you may take our lifes
But you'l never take our freedom"

On one hand, as a huge cinematography enthusiast myself, I feel like was born for this challenge. But on the other? It ought to be the toughest challenge of all -- how am I supposed to narrow down my list to only 1-3-5 favorite shows?
If I tried, thought, I'd have to go with:
โ18 Nov 2022 12:54 AM
I couldn't narrow down my list either so I broke it down per streaming service ๐.
โ21 Nov 2022 09:00 AM
That's a cool "workaround" ๐
โ16 Nov 2022 08:22 PM
Here is my list:
1.) Star Wars shows (I love Disney +)
2.) Star Trek
3.) Stranger Things
4.) Older shows - Friends, Seinfeld, Fraiser, Cheers
5.) Marvel TV Shows (See #1)

Last week I met with Vader in the plaza ;-), I am going to send pica shortly.
โ17 Nov 2022 03:29 PM
Nice, let me show you my star wars pics
โ17 Nov 2022 03:22 PM
I agree with all of them except for She Hulk. It was painful to watch through the whole series ๐
โ17 Nov 2022 04:23 PM - edited โ17 Nov 2022 04:39 PM
Same! I couldn't just get over with the ending and the only question I had left was why?
โ17 Nov 2022 03:37 PM
The Witcher! Of course, how could I forget the show based on the Polish source material ๐
A lot of good stuff in your recommendations, will add to my to-watch list!
โ17 Nov 2022 04:46 PM
This will be too difficult to narrow things down, but the latest show to grip my attention (get through the first 3 episodes to see if you'll like it) is Andor on Disney+.
If you're looking for a fun and quirky detective show, Castle is a big favorite of mine (starring Nathan Fillion). Brooklyn 99 is also a great show in a similar vein.
The Star Trek TOS, TNG, and Voyager were big pieces of my childhood, and the new Lower Decks animated comedy is perfect if you like poking fun at the Trek universe.
There's so many others to name, but I'll leave it at that for now!
โ17 Nov 2022 08:04 PM
Nine nine! ๐ช
What a great list ๐
โ18 Nov 2022 07:36 PM
Oh, forgot about "detective" shows... For me, Castle and especially The Mentalist.
โ20 Nov 2022 05:56 AM
Let's not forget about Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It is a highly-rated detective show around my place. Still I need to watch that one but I heard a lot about it.
โ25 Nov 2022 10:37 AM
Both have a very special place in my heart! ๐
โ24 Nov 2022 04:27 PM
I totally forgot to mention Brooklyn 99 in my list. Very cool ๐
โ17 Nov 2022 09:28 PM
This is a great topic, to I'd highly recommend these binge worthy productions:
Netflix:
Blown Away
Stanger Things
Locke and Key
Inventing Anna
The Tinder Swindler
Grace and Frankie
Hulu:
Only (M)urders in the Building
Disney+
The Secrets of Sulphur Springs
I'm sure there is more but that's a great start ๐
โ17 Nov 2022 10:31 PM
ooooo well... this is tough, in order
Westworld definitely #1, so sad it isn't getting its fifth and final season ๐ญ
Avatar the last airbender
Breaking bad/better call Saul, so long but so worth it
The office (US)
Taskmaster, all global variations
British panel shows in general
I think thats it for favs, I'm not a huge TV fan

โ18 Nov 2022 07:29 AM
at least one person listed Arcane! Kudos! Do you play as well? ๐
โ18 Nov 2022 09:00 AM
2 people! ๐
I used to play every day a few years ago, lately itโs getting less and less.
โ18 Nov 2022 07:12 PM
Same here Mike! I don't remember the last time I played the game.
โ18 Nov 2022 07:12 PM
I haven't been playing as much :(. Whenever I get a chance I either play Anno 1800, Age of Empires games or Starcraft II.
โ18 Nov 2022 07:35 PM
Good to see the Age of Empires. I played a lot at my first workplace in the 90โs. After working hours we organized lan parties with pentium 100 and 14โ crt. ๐

โ18 Nov 2022 07:31 AM
Why no one lists a great series of Casa de Papel aka "Money heist"?
โ18 Nov 2022 07:33 PM
Yes, Casa de Papel is one of my favorites, too!
โ20 Nov 2022 06:01 AM
Also, many of us have forgotten the Sherlock Holmes show and the movie. They both are extraordinary. Also, Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr. are my favourite actors.
โ25 Nov 2022 10:40 AM
Sherlock BBC is such a great show (especially seasons 1-2)! I remember watching it as it was airing, trying to predict how it's going to end ๐ฎ the suspense! Also agreed about the actors!
โ17 Jul 2023 10:05 PM
It's definitely my favorite series as well as the big bang theory
โ18 Nov 2022 02:47 PM
My list:
โ18 Nov 2022 03:17 PM
I almost forgot to mention the Chernobyl series. It was amazing. Thanks Daniel to share it.
Lot of memories came in my mind. I was 12 at that time and it was not so far from my city (800km / 500 miles). It was frightening for us. My my brother-in-law was born in this year. He was choosen with other hungarian new borns and he was examined year by year when he was kid (affected or not affected by the radiation). Luckily he is healthy.
โ25 Nov 2022 10:46 AM
Oh wow, thank you for sharing this part of your story with us! Being born after the tragedy, I didn't experience it first-hand, only the consequences, and it's quite insightful to see how different countries were managing that.
โ21 Nov 2022 12:04 PM
Band of Brother was really great, The Pacific also comes really close.
โ25 Nov 2022 10:44 AM
Chornobyl! Such a great show, but also a pretty accurate take on the tragedy that took place in my homeland. Watched it with tears in my eyes. Totally agree with the duality of men being the central theme of it and showing it is perfectly executed!
โ18 Nov 2022 06:46 PM
So, I'm not going to put a lot of them, as I love most of the suggestions above. And there are also a lot of them to discover?
The remaining list of mine is the following:
โ18 Nov 2022 07:02 PM
MacGyver was one of my favorites from my childhood, everyone who saw it was eager to get a Victorinox.
โ18 Nov 2022 08:38 PM
Not much of a traditional TV watcher: definitely a streaming fan, whenever I have the time ๐
My list is:
Many more came to mind, so I had to stick to the top 5 or I would go on forever ๐
โ19 Nov 2022 11:41 AM - edited โ21 Nov 2022 07:56 AM
Some pretty interesting recommendations in this topic, I have to update my "to-watch" list!
List from me, in pretty much random order:
โ21 Nov 2022 12:54 PM
Rome is so good!
โ25 Nov 2022 10:47 AM
Double kudos for "Community", one for the show itself, and one for the name ๐
โ20 Nov 2022 05:51 AM
My recommendation to everyone is that,
These series literally made me cry and kept me excited the whole time while watching it.
โ21 Nov 2022 12:55 PM
I loved Vampire Dairies! Nice to see it!
Arrow is a great DC TV Series, DC nailed the TV Series.. I love Gotham too and Small Ville ๐
โ21 Nov 2022 12:57 PM
DC TV series are great. Need to catch up on them. You are right - Gotham and SmallVille were great. Too many TV shows!
โ04 Dec 2022 12:55 PM
Yes, Tom. Gotham is good one too. After watching it, then I got my answer on how many unsung heroes are there in the story of Batman.
โ25 Nov 2022 10:50 AM
Supernatural! Maybe the first lengthy series I got invested in, started watching it when I was around 12 ๐ Forgot about it for a few years just to learn about the last season airing and binge-watch it during Covid. Was so sad to say goodbye!
โ04 Dec 2022 12:54 PM
Very true. It was so emotional to watch Dean and Sam meet in the after life. It has got the best brother relationship.
โ24 Nov 2022 08:16 PM - edited โ24 Nov 2022 08:18 PM
Better Call Saul is SO good. That and The Sopranos both have amazing writing.
โ29 Nov 2022 12:34 PM
Black Mirror +++ very intelligent show. Other dystopian future shows/movie depend on making the future world look like a sort of hell, Black Mirror sort of subtlety manages to show you how awful things could get with the current path of social tech.
โ24 Nov 2022 02:27 PM
Some I am currently watching (I think most of them have already been mentioned):
But also a few older good series:
โ25 Nov 2022 10:52 AM
Babylon Berlin is SO good! Probably the first Noir series I've ever stumbled upon, and it's so worth it!
โ24 Nov 2022 02:44 PM
To me are these:
Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul .
Better Call Saul is the BEST. Loved the picture taken from mostly episodes... The kind of TV Show that got done right in time, before get a crap ending such as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones...
I also like these short comedy shows, with 20 min episodes, such as Seinfield, TBBT, 99, Malcon, etc.
And, of course, the mind breaker shows, like Dark.
โ24 Nov 2022 04:14 PM
@dannemcawrote:The kind of TV Show that got done right in time, before get a crap ending such as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones...
I can absolutely agree with that. In many cases, it seems to be difficult to find the right time to end a series ๐ธ๐
โ01 Dec 2022 09:24 AM
Never hit kudo button so quickly like now when I've seen Trailer Park Boys ๐
