This month's spotlight lands on @AdrianaVillela: the person who can make the observability of LLM API calls sound like a cool story you actually want to hear. And then, as if that wasn't great enough, she'll drop in a capybara pic just because they make her happy. Now we are happy too. 😄
What began as a casual chat with someone she knew has grown into a thriving advocacy career, packed stages and an eight-city fall tour included. So settle in - you're in good company.

I was looking for my next role as a developer advocate. I knew that I wanted to continue in the OpenTelemetry space, having spent the better part of 2 years in that space at Lightstsep (Lightstep) (my first DevRel role, and my first foray into Cloud Native). During my search, I reached out to my now-teammate Henrik Rexed, and asked if there were openings on his team. Our paths had crossed many times in the OpenTelemetry and Cloud Native space. He reached out to his then-manager, and after a couple of meetings, I went through the interview process, and they liked me and offered me a position on the team. I feel so fortunate to have had a chance to work with so many talented folks on that team!

I work primarily on Observability, with a focus on OpenTelemetry. In the last few months, I've been exploring the intersection of OpenTelemetry and AI, specifically around the observability of AI agents and LLM API calls.
My team is primarily community-facing, and as such, I have a huge presence in the community, especially the OpenTelemetry community, where I serve as an OpenTelemetry Community Manager and maintainer of the OpenTelemetry End User SIG.
I also have a podcast called Geeking Out, where I geek out on tech with my guests, and also on their career journeys. Most of my guests come from underrepresented groups, and my goal is to help elevate them and share their stories with the world.
Most recently, my teammate Kathi Sick and I have started a new livestream called The Observation Deck, where we talk with the folks who make Cloud Native tick.
I give a lot of talks on OpenTelemetry and Observability, and in fact, I have a very busy fall coming up, in which I'll be speaking at SREDay, Observability Summit, Open Source Summit, KCD UK (Edinburgh), Cloud Native Days Poland (Warsaw), Cloud Native Days Norway (Bergen), Cloud Native Days Denmark (Copenhagen), and KCD Provence (Aix-en-Provence). You can check out my talk schedule here (minus the Provence talk – I just found out about it last week).

My "aha" moment is getting to see what Dynatrace can do with OpenTelemetry data, and we capture my delight with the product in my YouTube series, Dynatrace Can Do THAT with OpenTelemetry.
"I love how much Dynatrace users LOVE Dynatrace. That enthusiasm is infectious!"
I love bouldering – I usually go to the bouldering gym 2-3x per week, and whenever I travel, I always try to take a trip to the local bouldering gym.

Thank you, Adriana, for handing the mic to the people whose stories deserve a bigger room—and for making the rest of us want to geek out too. We'll be cheering you through that whirlwind fall, all eight stops, and hoping every city hides a good bouldering wall for when the sessions wrap!
And you? If a story like Adriana's feels familiar—if you've got a career journey, a side project, or a community you're quietly holding up—the mic is open here, too. Come geek out with us, the community's better for it.
Dynatracer Spotlight is our monthly series dedicated to the people behind Dynatrace. Every month, we shine a light on a colleague or team who helps build our product, community, and culture — and the story behind what drives them.
Got a story to tell? We'd love to hear from you — reach out and share it with the community.
