I would like to prevent masking numbers of CloudFoundryAppName because it doesn't make any sense and is hard to use.

Support has always told me to open a case up when we need something unmasked as it might be a change in the configuration to get that data. With that being said, Id have to recommend that route.

That doesn't look like masking that looks like us ignoring numbers in the application name detected so as not to create a new application every time the number changes.

As far as I've observed, it looks like masking if it is a number, rather than ignoring the number because the behavior is the same even though api version exists only v1. I assume it's more of a reflexive algorithm than a smart one.
