What features are not available when using Offline licenses in Dynatrace Managed

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding Offline licenses in Dynatrace Managed.
I understand that offline mode is used for environments without internet access, but I’d like to confirm in detail:

Which specific features or capabilities are not available when Dynatrace Managed runs with an offline license?

It would be very helpful if someone could share an official document or experience that lists what is disabled or limited when using offline licenses.

Hi @Jamal_Almarabha 😀

Please note I might have omitted some details.

When Dynatrace Managed runs in fully offline (air-gapped) mode with an offline license, the following SaaS-backed features and conveniences are unavailable or limited:

  1. Automatic cluster upgrades & hot-fixes
You must manually download and apply each new Managed-cluster version and emergency patch—no automatic pulls from Mission Control.

  2. Remote Mission Control monitoring & support metrics
Health checks, capacity alerts, and usage data do not flow back to Dynatrace Mission Control—you’ll need your own on-prem monitoring.

  3. Hub-based extension and OneAgent updates
The in-product Extensions Hub is inaccessible. All custom extensions, ActiveGate plugins, and OneAgent installers must be downloaded externally and side-loaded.

  4. Premium High-Availability turnkey solution
    SaaS-backed HA/disaster-recovery (“turnkey”) features—including Grail-based log replication—are not supported without Internet connectivity.

  5. Public Synthetic Monitoring
Synthetic tests that rely on Dynatrace-hosted locations won’t run. Only private (ActiveGate-based) synthetic assignments are available.

  6. Grail-powered log analytics to SaaS
You’re limited to classic DDU-based log monitoring or your own on-prem Grail setup; cloud-based Grail ingest is not available.

  7. License consumption notifications & emails
Expiration warnings and quota alerts are sent by Dynatrace’s cloud services—those won’t be delivered, so you must track license use yourself.

In offline mode, you retain full on-prem observability but take on all upgrade, extension-management, HA/disaster-recovery, synthetic-monitoring and capacity-alert responsibilities.

Above all mentioned missing features, there is one more: Application Security is completely missing in Managed Offline.
