I have been working on Doc Manager for Dynatrace, a custom app developed to provide a more convenient way to manage custom and standard documents directly within Dynatrace.
The idea came from wanting a central place to work with custom documents while also providing better visibility into document changes, previous versions, deleted-document information, and audit activity.
The app provides a central interface where you can:
• Search and filter documents available in the Dynatrace environment
• Create documents by entering content directly or uploading a file
• View and update document content
• Optionally format JSON content for easier readability
• Open supported standard documents directly in their native Dynatrace view
• Review document-related audit activity
When document content is updated through Doc Manager, the app automatically retains a snapshot of the previous content.
These retained versions can then be:
• Compared side by side
• Restored when an earlier version is needed
• Downloaded
• Permanently deleted when no longer required
This provides additional visibility and recovery options when documents change over time.
Doc Manager also provides a Deleted Document Registry, which maintains read-only metadata records for deleted documents (with additional workflow configuration).
This can help provide visibility into documents with details like name, that previously existed even after the original document is no longer available.
Doc Manager also provides a Dynatrace Workflow action for retrieving document content.
This allows document content to be consumed by subsequent workflow tasks and opens up additional automation possibilities where configuration or other information stored in Dynatrace documents is needed as part of a workflow.
A short preview and more information about the app are available here:

Doc Manager is actively being developed, and I’d like to understand how other Dynatrace users currently work with documents.
The goal is to continue improving Doc Manager based on real-world Dynatrace use cases and feedback from the community.
Looking forward to your thoughts, suggestions, and experiences! 🙌
