While the basic configuration process for integrating the Alert Manager Prometheus manager is straightforward, you may encounter the following challenge:
with the configuration, Custom Device Names are often generated as generic defaults. This can hinder the categorization of Custom Devices (CD) into specific Management Zones. To tackle this, follow the steps below to customize the device name:
Navigate to: Settings -> Topology Model -> Generic Types -> Add Type Definition.
Provide the basic information.
Add the extension rule using the pattern defined in the Prometheus configuration.
Tip: Ensure that the label is defined in the Prometheus configuration as it will be used to customize the device name.
Result: With a customized device name, you can effortlessly assign it under the Management Zone. This will streamline ServiceNow Integration and make the impacted entity clearer.
