Extension Metrics via Logs - Paying Twice?

Several of the newer extension versions are starting to ingest logs processed into metrics. Examples of this are in SQL Server Remote and Remote UNIX.

I'm assuming I am now paying twice for this.

I'm paying to ingest the logs, and then I'm paying again to store the metric.

In my managed cluster I'm then also paying to store the logs, but that's a different issue.

Both logs as well as metrics extracted from logs would indeed consume DDUs.
