Fix “Login From an Untrusted Domain” Authentication Errors in Dynatrace

Vidhyasagar
Guide

Summary: This post explains why integrated authentication fails with the “login from an untrusted domain” error and provides steps to correct domain trust, credential configuration, and AD settings.

Hello,

I am trying to onboard SQL Always On clusters using an extension in Dynatrace, and I am using AD credentials authentication.

Once the configuration is enabled, when I check, it gives the error " The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Integrated authentication," which is expected.

As per the documentation of Dynatrace, they are asking to import the server certificate to the keystore.  https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/shortlink/microsoft-sql-monitoring#ssl

Please, someone, help me decide which certificate to import and how to pull the cert from the SQL cluster server.

There are many, many reasons why this error appears. It can be an incorrect password or different AD environments or a locked out user and several others. There are some good tips here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18603696/trouble-connecting-to-sql-server-login-failed-the-login...

We've personally seen that same error due to an incorrect password being used
