We have initiated the rollout of version 1.301 to Dynatrace environments. This update will result in the discontinuation of Python extensions based on Extension Framework 1.0 (EF1.0) once OneAgent/ActiveGate is upgraded to 1.301.
The primary reason for this change is that Python 3.8, which EF1.0 relies on, reached the end of its security support in October 2024. As a result, maintaining EF1.0 is no longer feasible. Read more in this blog. Meanwhile, you can also see following message in your tenant in Settings->Monitoring -> Monitoring technologies:
We have been communicating this transition since October 2023 to ensure our customers have ample time to migrate to newer frameworks. For detailed guidance on migrating your extensions, please refer to this guide.
Understanding that some customer might not complete the migration before end of October 2024 we allowed blocking of OneAgent updates with a single toggle (also located in Monitored technologies settings page):
JMX and PMI extensions are not affected by this change.
