How to configure "Custom service detection' ?

According to the documentation, to set up custom service and custom messaging service, it's instructed to:

Navigate to Settings > Service detection > Custom service detection.

(https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/platform-modules/applications-and-microservices/services/service-det... ) & https://university.dynatrace.com/ondemand/course/26893/video/23392?content=overview&section=23609 )

However, in the view below, I can't locate custom service detection or custom message detection. Can you please assist me in configuring custom messaging

Hi Sij,

You are in the right place, it should be there.

Most probably you can not see it, because you do not have permission to it.

Please check: https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/manage/access-control/manage-user-permissions-policies
Custom service detection is in:
Schema ID: builtin:settings.custom-service-detection
Schema groups: group:service-detection
The schema ID and schema groups can be used in policies to provide full access to this settings page. Both 'settings:objects:write' and 'settings:objects:read' are required. Read-only access is not supported.

Best,
Attila

Hi @Sij

Normally you should not have problems viewing or accessing the section: "custom service detection"

In all the Dynatrace SaaS environments that I have seen, they do not limit access to that option, however, if you are not a full Dynatrace administrator, they may be limiting your access due to policies.

The 2 ways I know to access that option are:

1.-Settings > Service detection > Custom service detection.

2.- From the Service / click in the arrow / Custom services setting

I hope that help you!!  🎯💪

Yes. It's due to lack of necessary privileges.  Thanks for your help @PierreGutierrez  and @sattilas
