Hello Dynatrace Community,
We are currently working with a client in the insurance sector who is using Dynatrace for application observability. The client is looking to enhance their dashboards and align them more with insurance business needs, not only technical monitoring.
We would like to get ideas, best practices, or reference approaches for building dashboards that provide both operational and business visibility for an insurance organization.
We are especially interested in dashboard ideas around the following areas:
A few questions for the community:
Any guidance, examples, or recommendations from similar implementations would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi @asaad
We actually built something similar for an insurance client recently, so sharing what worked for us:
1. Executive dashboard – Kept it to one page, overall digital health score, top business KPIs (policies issued, claims processed, revenue at risk).
2. Customer journey visibility – We used RUM + Session segmented by journey (quote, claim submission, payment), not by app.
3. Policy/claims/payment monitoring – This is where Business Events shine. We ingested events at key milestones (quote created, policy bound, claim approved).
4. App owner dashboards – Pretty standard golden signals per team, with deployment events overlaid for change correlation.
5. NOC/ops – Keep it purely technical: infra health, synthetics, problem feed, SLO burn-down.
6. Digital experience – RUM Core Web Vitals, geo/device breakdown, synthetics on critical paths (login, quote, claims portal).
7. Business KPIs – Model business events in Grail, build DQL tiles for metrics like claim cycle time, renewal conversion, payment failure rate , no separate BI tool needed.
Structure tip: tier dashboards (Exec → Business Process Owner → App/Ops) with drill-down links rather than one giant dashboard. No out-of-box insurance template, but Business Analytics + custom Grail dashboards get you there fast.
One thing that helped a lot: we tiered the dashboards (Exec → Business Process Owner → App/Ops) with drill-down links instead of cramming everything into one dashboard. There's no out-of-box insurance template.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Sujit
