Blog post https://www.dynatrace.com/news/blog/intelligent-observability-for-oracle-and-sql-databases/ mentions new functionality for metrics collected from Oracle/MSSQL dbs. However, there is no info which version of Dynatrace will include this nice functionality. As blog post says it should be available now, but I cannot find it in SaaS 1.239, neither nothing new in Dynatrace Hub.
Any hints about this ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
My guess is that its foreshadowing the EF 2.0 extensions for Oracle (out this week I think) and SQL server (out within 3 months).
Hey All, the Oracle extension will be available for clusters v1.239 and above, but we have a slight delay with publishing the extension in DT Hub.
As all the other EF2.0 extensions it will be consuming DDUs.
I can confirm, that SaaS 1.239 allow to install Oracle extension from Hub.
Thanks Darek! And the MSSQL extension? When will that be available?
the plan is to have it by the end of CQ2
Hello @dglugla ! I miss docs description for Oracle user access requirements (for user used to db connection). I assume select from v$ tables, but it would be nice to have it in docs.
EDIT: Maybe those reqs are same as for DB Insights for Oracle (https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/database-insights#oracle-permissions), please confirm.
yes, the required permissions are the same as for DB Insights. Doc update requested already.
So far Oracle extension and Oracle DB Insights are partially complementary, but we'll eventually drop support for DB Insights entirely and deprecate it: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/how-to-use-dynatrace/databases/database-insights
