JVM metrics for Pods

Hi Team,

Could anyone please suggest how we can achieve pod-level monitoring in Dynatrace, including key metrics such as:

  • Throughput
  • RPM
  • JVM metrics
  • Other critical indicators

Currently, I am unable to find JVM metrics for the pods. If anyone has experience or knows the steps to configure this, please share your guidance.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

For Kubernetes entities (pod, workload, etc.), you need to enable Kubernetes platform.

In Dynatrace, JVM metrics will be associated with the process entity, not the pod directly (i.e. you will find them in the  Infrastructure and Operations app)

To be more precise these metrics are pushed in by a OneAgent running alongside your process not just with the Kubernetes API integration. Here is a guide how to deploy the Dynatrace Operator to achieve this level of monitoring: https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/shortlink/installation-k8s-cloud-native-fs
