When does Dynatrace remove management zone assignment after an entity becomes inactive?

Hi,

Once an entity is inactive, after how long Dynatrace removed the MZ assignment for that entity. Specifically, CUSTOM_DEVICES created via extension.

there is no specific timer for removing Management Zone (MZ) assignment.
The assignment disappears only when the entity itself is removed due to inactivity.
it works like that:
Dynatrace keeps entities only while they receive data --> If a CUSTOM_DEVICE stops sending data --> it becomes inactive --> After about ~72 hours without data, the entity is removed from active topology --> At that point the entity no longer exists -->  so MZ assignment is gone

If you set the timeframe to a past period (when the entity still existed and was assigned to the MZ),  it will still appear with that MZ assignment (because historical data is preserved)
