**[Help Needed] Remote Windows Host Monitoring 2.0.0 – ActiveGate not meeting WMI requirements**

Hi community,

I'm trying to activate the **Remote Windows Host Monitoring 2.0.0** extension, but when selecting an ActiveGate group I'm getting the following warning on the "default" group (0/2 ActiveGates available):

> *"There are no ActiveGates in this group capable of executing the extension. The extension won't work until at least one ActiveGate fulfills the requirements."*
> - Not supported DataSources. **Expected wmi (x2)**

**Environment details:**
- Both ActiveGates in the "default" group are installed on **Linux hosts**.
- The target servers are **Windows Server 2012 R2**, and **OneAgent cannot be installed on them** (unsupported/restricted environment).

**My questions:**
1. Is WMI datasource support exclusive to ActiveGates installed on **Windows**? That would explain why neither of my Linux-based ActiveGates qualifies.
2. What is the recommended approach to monitor **Windows Server 2012 R2 hosts** when OneAgent cannot be installed and the only available ActiveGates are on Linux?
3. Is there any workaround or alternative extension/method to reach these servers remotely without a Windows-based ActiveGate?
4. If a Windows ActiveGate is required, are there any minimum version or configuration requirements we should be aware of?

Any guidance or documentation pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For the WMI datasource, a Windows-based Environment ActiveGate is a prerequisite.

This is why the Linux-based ActiveGates in the selected ActiveGate group are not eligible to execute the Remote Windows Host Monitoring 2.0.0 extension, and Dynatrace shows the warning: “Not supported DataSources. Expected wmi.”

Please refer to the Dynatrace documentation below, under the supported Dynatrace versions/prerequisites section:

If you can't have more machines and must use the one you already have deployed on Linux, you could explore bringing the data in via Bindplane using a collector and then bringing that telemetry to Dynatrace. See the Windows Remote Collection | Bindplane Docs; I hope this alternative approach helps you explore it.
