Unable to populate built-in appVersion field in RUM User Sessions using dtrum.sendSessionProperties()

Hi everyone,

I'm using the Dynatrace Serverless Agent JavaScript in a React web application and I'm trying to populate the built-in appVersion field that appears in User Sessions Query.

I currently send session properties using the following code:

dtrum.sendSessionProperties(undefined, undefined, {
  region,
  env: environment,
  appversion: appVersion ?? ''
});

I can confirm that appVersion has a value on the client side, and the call is being executed.

However, when I query user sessions, the built-in appVersion field is always null.

I have not created a custom User Session Property or User Action Property for appversion because my understanding is that appVersion is already a built-in Dynatrace session attribute, and I was hoping to populate that field directly.

Questions:

  1. Is it possible to set the built-in appVersion session field using dtrum.sendSessionProperties()?
  2. Does Dynatrace map a custom property named appversion (or appVersion) to the built-in appVersion field?
  3. If not, what is the recommended way to populate the built-in appVersion field for a React web application using the Serverless Agent JavaScript?
  4. Do I need to create a custom session property and query that instead of relying on the built-in appVersion field?
