Dynatrace Associate Certification exam -March26

Hi All, I am planning to take the Associate certification by the end of this month. Do you have any advice on how to clear the exam?

I feel bit confident about the practical part, but I’ve heard that the MCQs can be quite confusing... so would be really helpful if you could share any guidelines, mock tests details, preparation materials, or useful links.

I’ve already completed the DT university courses and 2 practice exams...they seemed direct questions only, but I’ve heard the actual exam questions can be more challenging and confusing....

Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I’d recommend checking this thread as it summarizes the current exam quite well:

Dynatrace Associate Certification 2025 (Updated)

In short:Focus on 3rd gen apps (not Classic) – especially dashboards, DQL (timeseries), and notebooks
Be comfortable with:

  • Data Explorer / dashboards
  • DQL queries (very important)
  • Distributed traces (navigation + filtering)
  • RUM settings (key actions, cost control)
  • Synthetics (config + execution)
  • Logs & events
  • Basic workflows

Practical part:

  • You’ll need to actually build queries, dashboards, etc.
  • Official documentation is allowed
  • Time management is critical (skip hard ones and come back)

MCQs:
Based mostly on Dynatrace University content, but can be tricky, focus on understanding, not memorization

If you already did the courses you’re on a good path
Just make sure you’re confident with DQL and the new UI/apps.

Good luck!

I found that the Practice and Dynatrace University content was not too helpful for the actual test-I repeated them several times successfully. There are multiple questions pertaining to arcane topics like retention times of data, logs, timeouts, time intervals, dropdown time periods, regular vs. Premium support differences, etc... Just rote memorization that you may have never considered while using Dynatrace for years. Each retake of the test is another $200 just so you know.
