We're upgrading Dynatrace Synthetic with Chrome for Testing
We're excited to announce an important upgrade to the Dynatrace Synthetic public locations infrastructure. To further improve the stability and consistency of test executions, we're transitioning our platform from standard Google Chrome to a Chrome for Testing - a purpose-built version of Chrome designed specifically for automated testing environments.
Why this change matters
Chrome for Testing provides a controlled and predictable environment tailored for automation, ensuring your synthetic tests run in repeatable and stable conditions, regardless of browser updates or external changes.
This upgrade marks the first step toward unifying the browser engine across both public and private locations. Once private locations on all supported platforms also transition to Chrome for Testing, a process that has already begun, you’ll benefit from a seamless and consistent testing experience across your entire synthetic monitoring setup.
Additionally, this transition enables the Dynatrace development team to deliver updates faster, including the latest browser versions with up-to-date security patches, ensuring your tests always run on the most secure and modern browser environment.
This change will be rolled out automatically and requires no action on your part. You can expect the same high-quality performance, now backed by a more robust and automation-friendly browser foundation.

Best Regards,
