Lift and shift on-premises Managed cluster to AWS EC2

Shirai

Hello everyone.

Managed customers who do not take advantage of Dynatrace's new features such as Grail and AppEngine are not attracted to upgrading to Saas. But they are interested in cloud services.
They are planning to lift and shift many of their on-premises servers to AWS EC2. On-premises Managed clusters are no exception. They find it easier to lift and shift Managed clusters to AWS EC2 rather than upgrading managed to Saas.

Do you think this idea is correct?

Hello @Shirai!

Thanks a lot for reaching out. I want to point out some of the benefits of Grail and AppEngine. Grail, for example, aims to unify and contextually analyze your data with the only causal data lakehouse with massively parallel processing (MPP). You'll get

  • Precise answers from unified data in context
  • Cost-efficient, indexless, schema-on-read storage
  • Massively parallel processing for speed and scale
  • Access to the Dynatrace Query Language for answering questions on the fly
  • and many more as you can read here

And AppEngine supports you in creating and sharing custom apps that leverage insights from all your observability, security, and business data.

Would you mind helping me understand why Managed customers would not want to take advantage of these benefits? And would you please clarify what cloud services are of interest?

Looking forward to your feedback and clarification.

Thanks!

Daniela
