Multiple Alerts for Shared NFS Mount – How to Consolidate in Dynatrace?

Nadeesh

Hi,

We are encountering an issue with multiple alerts being triggered for the same shared NFS mount point, but for different servers that have the mount point attached. Specifically, when the mount point reaches a threshold (e.g., 3% free space), multiple alerts are generated for each server that has the mount attached, instead of consolidating them into a single alert for the shared mount.

Example:

  • We have a shared NFS mount /nfs hosted on NFS server abc0001.
  • This mount is attached to 10 different application servers (e.g., abc0002, abc0003, ..., abc0011).
  • Once the available space for /nfs drops below the threshold (e.g., 3%), individual alerts are raised for each application server instead of a consolidated alert for the mount itself.

We are looking for guidance on how to consolidate these alerts into a single notification for the shared mount point, rather than generating separate alerts for each server.

Is there a way to achieve this in Dynatrace, or any best practices for managing shared NFS mounts and related alerts?

Thanks in advance for your help!
