log metric creation

I fetched logs as per requirement for host with error status

post that i have to setup alert for the logs 

so i tried to create the log metric for the fetched logs then tried to search the metric into metrics but unable to find it even searched it in data explorer but no luck

So the question is if i want to set up alerts for the logs then i have to fetch logs then pin it to dashboard post that metric need to be created - once creation of metric need to setup anomaly detection then metric event to create a custom event alert post this i have to setup an alerting profile for the same right so the alerts can be configured onto the required platform with respect to problem notification

Creating log metric and then metric event is one way to achieve this, if you are planning to run some rules like, alert if the log error entries are higher than X in Y minutes.
