:tada: Welcome to Open Source Challenges!

Dynatrace Community is a perfect place for winning with integrity and innovation. Over the years we've observed how a need to learn and seek for answer meets with an urge to share and spread the knowledge. Keeping these principles in mind, we're introducing Open Source Challenges that are built for curious practitioners and developers. If you're lookin for a practical, hands-on path into open source tools and workflows, this is a space perfect for you!

The best way to learn is by working through some real problems that are part of every Open Source Challenge. Each of them a real scenario you can solve, learn from, and share with the community. It's simple - you don't need any local setup required, the only necessary tools are free GitHub account and some curiosity! πŸ’‘

How it works

  1. Open the latest challenge and rea the introduction
  2. Choose what currently available level of the challenge you want to choose: Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert
  3. We post them on the weekly basis: the Beginner level is posted in the day of announcing the challenge, the Intermediate a week later, and the Expert - another week later
  4. Follow the rules and deadline - every Open Source Challenge is posted monthly and ends 30 days later.
  5. Don't share internal or sensitive data
  6. Don't forget to post your solution in the thread of level you've taken
  7. Earn badges and leaderboard points

Point System

Each challenge is built on three difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Expert. All levels are worth equal points, that are received for completing each of them. The maximum points available are reflecting amount of levels: 100 for one level, 200 for two, and 300 for three.

Points are awarded based on when you submit your solution within the active challenge week:

  • 1st to solve: 100 points
  • 2nd: 95 points
  • 3rd: 90 points
  • 4th: 85 points
  • 5th: 80 points
  • 6th: 75 points
  • 7th and beyond: 70 points

Submitted after the 7 day window? You can still earn 60 points for a late solution.
