Hello, Community Friends! Once again, we invite you to take a look at some after-hours activities. Let's share the names of our favorite games, both current obsessions and those that used to make time fly... years ago ๐
Post one or a few game names (photos, print screens of cover arts are welcomed as well)! Promote contemporary stuff or go a little bit nostalgic... And don't worry repeating! It will only highlight how meaningful some titles are for whole generations. And traditionally, everyone who takes the challenge receives a unique "Gamer" badge and 100 bonus points as well!
Let me start with something so obvious and yet so timeless: GTA San Andreas, of course.

Train Simulator - I had already forgotten about this game, and I spent a lot of time in it ๐
โ25 Jul 2023 12:10 AM
I am always 1 FPS fan. So my all time favorite's game is Call of duty as I like to story flow in game.
โ27 Jul 2023 02:49 PM
I've played many of those games. I've almost forgot about TransportTycoon(TTD) - spent hundreds (if not thousands) of hours as did in FreeCiv (open version of Civilizations)
I'm really disappointed that nobody mentioned THPS2 - TonyHawks Pro Skater 2 - having Tony on few of our events.
Game was really groundbreaking back then - great graphic(for its time), wonderful dynamics, soundtracks that became legendary hits. I had it installed on every PC since it was released till like few years ago:

I was going to... but left it out. I did play that a lot on the Playstation! and Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX!

For me its only one digital game (Monument Valley) as I do not have too much game-time, but more board games with family like Qwirkle and Carcassonne.

Same here! ๐ I only watch my kids playing Minecraft โ The last time I played a computer game was during studies, so million years ago ๐
I'm also a fan of board games and we have probably 4 or 5 full shelfs of those at home ๐
โ28 Jul 2023 04:23 PM
Boardgames are great as well, also have a big shelf of them! So many great ones, could be their own community challenge. ๐
โ31 Jul 2023 03:57 PM
Next month should be favorite board/card games?
โ07 Aug 2023 07:16 AM
Great idea! + for such games in next month โ๏ธ
โ30 Jul 2023 03:58 AM
This is a new one but it's a lot of fun
Star Wars BattleFront
โ07 Aug 2023 03:24 AM
So many great games... My list of favorites in no particular order would probably be:
Kingdom rush - Really my favorite tower defense, and its sequels are just as fantastic
OpenTTD - Just a great game to relax with
FTL Faster Than Light - fantastic strategy game with some incredibly in-depth mods to bring full games worth of extra content
Minecraft (java edition) - fantastic modability, endless opportunities
Terraria - Fantastically balanced sandbox adventure
Dota 2 - Brilliant team strategy

Even though it's considered as one of the most toxic games, I am super passionate about League of Legends for more than 10 years now. I appreciate and respect RiotGames and the culture they built around this game - with its own pop/rock bands, fashion brand, eSport and community events.

The number one game that comes to mind is Ace Attorney.
Or rather, the number one game franchise/series!
The Ace Attorney series isn't widely known by name. It's better known as "That one lawyer game" and "Ohhhh, so that's where OBJECTION! meme comes from!!!"
The reason why I say it's my favourite Series as opposed to favourite game, is because as a series it's REALLY a lot more than the sum of its parts. In the same way that the climatic Holding Out for a Hero scene in Shrek 2 is legendary due to the stakes and character themes established all the way back in the first film, the twists and turns in the Third game are so shocking because of everything we learn in the first two. Also like that scene in Shrek 2, the sound design in this game series is breathtaking.
For context, these games were first released on the GBA in Japan. They were then localised and ported to the DS.
Due to technical limitations, the original soundtrack is somewhat close to chiptune.
But in the same way that the gaming giants of Pokemon, and Zelda, received Orchestral albums for their soundtracks, so did the Ace Attorney series. And I think that speaks volumes as to how stunning the soundtrack really is.

In terms of how the game plays, it's a Visual Novel!
One of the only few in existence where no dating is involved ๐ฎ
I you love reading m*rder mysteries, this is the game series for you!
If you fell out of reading fiction, high five fam ๐
๐
๐
Me too ๐
But I still loved the games!!! So I'm sure you will too!!! :DDDDDDDDD
The first trilogy has been ported to every platform under the sun, and is often on sale on STEAM.
Defs give it a go if you can ๐

Well i play many types of grames. according to my new steam account
"Over the last 4 years, you've spent 1313.8 hours playing this selection, which includes 182 items,"
probably half of that
probably 3000 hours playing minecraft and almost 1000 playing fornite with my son, if i have to choose 1 game maybe would be minecraft, because the game allowed me to bond with my son when we went through a divorce and that was the place where we met most often to spend time together. because we could not see each other on a daily basis
one of the most relaxing things is build in minecraft with my son , this was one of our bases

I feel I exhausted my game playtime of life during my childhood on ZX Spectrum, Amiga 1200 and in late 90's on PC.
One of the gems I remember:
Nowadays I tend to defend my kids when they play some games on Nintendo or PS4. I was like them, just the games improved ๐
โ15 Aug 2023 02:07 PM
Great @Julius_Loman I also played Saboteur later on a Commodore 64 port of the game.
โ15 Aug 2023 11:42 PM
I exactly remember the game and it was Super Mario Bros on SNES, then Counter Strike 1.6 on a cabin net in my neighborhood.
Right now I play PS4 with my son, the games are DBz, Crash Car, and PES.

My top 3 favorite and memorable games!
Toe Jam and Earl was one of the first Xbox games that my brother and I played. We fell in love with the open world and silly nature of this game:
Shenmue 1 and 2 were also games my siblings and enjoyed, especially during our Saturday mornings:
Lastly, Jetset Radio Future on the Xbox. The storyline and graphics of this game at it's time was one of the most enjoyable for me. The soundtracks always hits and brings so much nostalgia.
โ23 Aug 2023 12:28 AM
Omg, have you seen Super Eyepatch Wolf's video essay on Shenmue 3? ๐

not yet, but I will have to check it out now. Thank you for sharing!
โ23 Aug 2023 01:58 AM
@Alfred-Le OMG, I just watched that review and I gotta say I am glad I did not partake in the kickstarter or buying the game! Quite sad to see the sequel flop so hard. S3 open world and combat looks horrible and we still have no closure to Ryoโs revengeโฆ๐ข. That was definitely painful, but I genuinely enjoyed Super Eyepatch Wolfโs delivery and video overall lol. Thanks for sharing that.
โ25 Aug 2023 02:17 AM
No worries @steven_v.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yes, I love their delivery and editing generally!
I watch all the video essays they pump out, regardless of topic, and have learnt much more about Wrestling than I had ever anticipated xD
โ25 Aug 2023 05:22 AM
I definitely have a couple of games that have been on my radar, but so far my current obsession(s) involve Cozy Games:
Stardew Valley - It's definitely one of those games that you can just wind down to after a long day, and since it was created individually by one developer, that makes it even more so impressive!
When it comes to nostalgia...nothing beats my favorite other than the Kingdom Hearts Series
โ05 Sep 2023 09:05 AM
KOTOR II is one of my favorite game ever! Complex turn base RPG with great graphics. Recommended for every player even now because of mods wich improve game drastically ๐
โ04 Mar 2024 03:46 PM
I've seen a lot of very cool games in the community.
I have played many since I was a child, but currently I stick with DOTA 2 (I don't see that anyone else plays it here ๐ข)
โ05 May 2024 07:38 PM
