Hello, Dynatrace Community!
We know we have Community members across the world. In each country the situation can be a bit different, but most of you are forced to stay at home right now and completely transform your daily routine. Turning your home into your office is tricky, as it can be challenging to separate work and personal life when they're both happening in the same place. We hope everyone managed to organize a dedicated and comfortable spot to continue the work.
The Task:
For those of you who are stuck at home here is the new challenge: Share a picture of your home office! We are very curious to see what challenges you are facing.
The Award:
Everyone that will post in this forum thread a picture with his new working conditions will receive 120 reputation points!
Below you can see my freshly adjusted workstation. Can’t wait to see yours! 🙂
Stay positive, fight the flus and the blues, and stay focused on the things that truly matter. Take care of yourself and others!

Unusual times are calling for unusual solutions. Because I don't have a real desk right now at my flat, I've decided to use the TV in my bedroom as my second screen 😄 So working right now on two laptops, two mouses and two keyboards - right from the couch. Maybe this is not perfect, but hey, this is not going to stop me 😉

Because I have temporary flat, I don’t have any space to work. This is why most of my job duties I’m doing on my iPad 🙂 It’s easier to put it aside when my 2 years old son need attention. Be careful everyone 🙂
I have as well some extra motivation from our cat 🙂

your cat seems to be a reminder to get some rest from time to time 😄 stay healthy, Sebastian!

My workstation that I created weeks before the outbreak.
Working from home is having a negative impact on my steps as you can see. My Wife and I are going to start doing afternoon walks around the village. We might even put in place @Andreas G. method of getting steps while working from home!
To ensure that we stay connected with family, we have been doing large family facetime sessions with Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Parents, Brothers and Sisters!
I am truly thankful that I am able to work from home during times like this, but keeping others who do not have this opportunity in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy! Don't forget to wash your hands!

I continue supporting our sales force and studying the aiops journey to autonomous cloud with Dynatrace & Keptn.
I consider that the main challenges of the home office are to maintain productivity and dynamics with the other people on the team,, but fortunately, we have had tools to support remote work for some time.
Having an established schedule and routine is helping to keep pace.
This unique period is also being important for reflections on the transformations that are impacting the organizations and how we can help them with the use of I.A. and Automation.
Oh, and a lot of coffee is essential too!
30 Mar 2020 11:18 AM
that's all so true! including the coffee supplies 😄
we already see the trend changing in our Community, and how staying in touch (at least online!) is important these days.

I've been working remote for a few months now so there hasn't been much of a change for me. ^.^

No better place at my home than the kitchen. At least it's close to coffee and snacks 😉
Equipment that helps:
+ Good keyboard, mouse and big display + secondary (helps to play virtual theater for kids)
+ 2 headphone sets: 1 wireless so I can walk, 1 good quality for better noice reduction
I have to say that is quite effective working from home. Community helps to feel connected, but looking forward getting back to the office and in-person chats.
Best regards to all! Stay positive and healthy!

Cool. The mechanical keyboard will probably be my next addition!

highly recommend, it's such a pleasure to write community answers with that! 😄

Working next to my children's handicradfts - home office and childcare combined.

It took a week until I found the best layout for my desk.
Biggest challenge: my desk is in a living room corner, and our 4 year old wants to help me finish my work. Also, sometimes I really need to throw that ball, or I get the "stare".

It's an inspiring space for work, music, and watching 2 rabbits, a cat, and lots of squirrels playing in the yard.
24 Mar 2020 01:05 PM
Indeed... best music quality is a must have!
26 Mar 2020 08:37 PM
Dave, I'd rather call it a home studio, no wonder 🙂 Great setup!
27 Mar 2020 09:04 PM
I hope that this musical setup will mean, that we will get some new smash hits in the next Perform 🙂
24 Mar 2020 03:09 PM - last edited on 28 Mar 2023 06:44 PM by Ana_Kuzmenchuk
My setup is actually quite similar to the office: similar screen and exactly the same coffee beans. Either my home feels like office or the office feels like home. 😄
Additional support is occasionally provided by a curious 18 month old and a feline creature (not in the picture).

I recently moved into a new apartment with a second bedroom that I turned into a home office. Moved in few weeks before the outbreak and luckily I set it all up before we went into WFH. As you can see I love Marvel and other comic/movie stuff. 😄 What do you think?
26 Mar 2020 03:01 PM
Noice!! The infinity gauntlet in the background is everything!
26 Mar 2020 03:04 PM
😄 Thanks!
30 Mar 2020 11:12 AM
that's called a passion! 🙂

Although it's taken a tremendous amount of work and I've had to mortgage my home to pay for the upgrades, my home office is now set up just the way I like it. I'm very happy with the ergonomic seats, next-gen UI controls, and hyperspace mode.
26 Mar 2020 05:32 PM
Hahahah... that's perfect pic Chris! Love it!
26 Mar 2020 07:47 PM
Awesome. Such a perfect home office 😄
26 Mar 2020 08:27 PM
From what I managed to see so far on our dailies, it's just one of the rooms 🙂
27 Mar 2020 04:12 PM
totally worth it 🙂

Working at home is actually a little better...not as many walk-ups and constant interruptions. Busy in KC working on investigating chronic application performance issues and dealing with production outages. On the side and when I find time, I'm working on Azure and AWS training. I just completed my home office setup prior to this which was good timing! My adjustable desk and new 38" monitor arrived just as this whole mess unraveled. I'm also updating my home network and adding SNMP monitoring for the 15 year old Fortnite geek who is constantly complaining of performance issues. While I'd like to use DT for this, I had to settle for PRTG (no AI and kind of archaic) and a trial of SolarWinds Network Monitor (yuck, although it's not too bad, just not DT!).

I have the same display! High five!
26 Mar 2020 06:49 PM
I love it, but I'm sensing I might need another one. It's too bad you can't daisy chain them together! I do have a Dell 24" monitor sitting next to me and I do have a HP dock for my laptop...one can never have enough monitors!
Hope all is well.

I recently moved into a new flat so I too was one of the lucky ones to have sorted out the home office setup before the madness started. Until now my working from home was done next to the bed on a table that could barely hold a monitor so I couldn't wait to travel to customer offices; now it's a place of focus and comfort. By far the most comfortable asset is the split keyboard although it was quite a challenge adapting to it!
The main challenge with my setup is that the window catches all the direct sun from midday til late afternoon - while I'm enjoying the natural light, it fries my back off and turns the room into a sauna haha; the window and curtain are my only weapons.
It sometimes does get lonely being remote all the time and things can seem eerily quiet, but starting with next week my home office is getting another employee. Wonder what she's like? 😄
27 Mar 2020 11:15 AM
Wow! That is awesome! And the keyboard is nice. What do you play? 😄
27 Mar 2020 01:06 PM
Thanks! I don't use the keyboard for gaming though 😄 just been having back pains from my regular one so decided to go full ergonomic. It should be great for first person games though, you only need the left bit 😄
27 Mar 2020 03:14 PM
Cool keyboard Radu! I might just have to get one of those!
27 Mar 2020 04:43 PM
Thanks Abdul! It was quite the journey until I could type on it at a productive speed haha
27 Mar 2020 04:17 PM
when people say that that Mr. Nietzsche's work is not helpful, we can prove them wrong now 😄

It has been a few years since I have a proper space set up but this year I'm trying to be as much ergonomic as possible. Luckily my standing desk arrived lest than a month before we went into quarantine. It allows me to stretch easily, walk around a little bit and in general just make the body more active. The key thing is to not stay at the same position for hours.
With less cars in the streets it has been really good working from home because the city is much more silent. I can hear birds in the distance and trees moving to the wind instead of honks and engines.
@Cale G. @John W. check out what I have in the back there - PDP 315!
C'mon @Elvis C. @Henry A. @Tomislav F. @Ding W. @David M. @Axel A. let's see your home offices 😃

Loving that Mouse Mat Gabriel!

I know exactly what you mean! A month ago my new "space" was a dumping ground! Not it's my office and escape pod!

The moment you realize that you'll need a haircut at some point.
Cheers to the Dynatrace community from Austria!

It's not that bad Florian! All the best from Poland!
27 Mar 2020 04:38 PM
If Davis can learn everything about applications, I bet we can teach it haircuts too! 😄
Cheers from UK!
27 Mar 2020 07:58 PM
looks like a very ergonomic work space 😄 cheers!

One of the minimalistic home offices so far, but as Leonardo da Vinci said: "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" 🙂
Best from Poland!

2 weeks into home-office teaches you about the essentials and non-essentials in your daily work-life 🙂
essentials:
non-essentials:
also, as it's important to move from time to time -> always being prepared to go for a run - alone and isolated, of course! 🙂
greetings from Austria, stay safe and healthy!

I was thinking the same thing. My first Community Home Office photo was a bit rough!
04 Apr 2020 12:47 PM
I actually like this one better than the 'clean' one from your other post 😉
27 Mar 2020 08:59 PM
This is one thing I've also noticed: shaving really became non-essential, beards on the Zoom calls are becoming longer and longer 😄
04 Apr 2020 12:14 PM
shaving once every 2-3 weeks has to be enough 😛
30 Mar 2020 11:36 AM
beards... looks like another idea for a Community challenge 😄
and about moving from time to time: besides running, I've found it really cool that many fitness clubs organize workouts online!
how about other runners here? @Yos N. @jose antonio r. @Jakub M. @Tarjei U. @Patrick H.? 🙂
30 Mar 2020 03:03 PM
as long as we are still allowed to go for a run, I'm currently running ~twice a week
04 Apr 2020 12:15 PM
in preparation for the isolated Linz-Marathon replacement run tomorrow, I assume? 😉
04 Apr 2020 12:48 PM
oh come one ... now I just shaved (last weekend) 😛
01 Apr 2020 05:44 PM
Still have to figure out which button hides the mute function, probably time to download a manual.
04 Apr 2020 12:10 PM
you are searching for the mute button? it's the one on top of the right earcup (not on the side), next to the headband.
however, did you also realize the automatic mute function when you just turn up the mic?
that's actually one of the best features IMHO 🙂
04 Apr 2020 12:32 PM
just checking ...
<script>alert('not good!');</script>
04 Apr 2020 12:33 PM
ok, doesn't look too bad at first sight ... 😉
