Hello Mostafa! Shed some light on your life’s journey.

Hello, and may peace be upon you. This is Mostafa Hussein. I grew up in Egypt.
In childhood, I had many hobbies like drawing (as I was talented with pencil and grayscale drawings), small woodwork, swimming, fishing, riding and fixing bicycles and playing music. And, in some way, based on that I learned that nothing is impossible “THINGS CAN BE DONE”, and in many situations, “Things must be done”.

The computer landed in my hands when I was 11 years old, but at that time was not interested in it. At age 14, I started to get involved intensely in computing with daily needs. Then, I started to contribute as a trainee with many small IT specialists in Cairo and Alexandria cities. Accordingly, it slowly began to be my career and became my passion. Then, I joined the College of Computer Science and Information Technology to start my journey.

As usual, in the university stage, I tried to get involved in many fields, but I was a bit confused about where to start to specialize and what field I’d find myself in. Is it programming, infrastructure, databases, security, or … 😉 ? Accordingly, I started to knock on the doors to discover myself, the chances were unclear for me until some of my colleagues at the university were constructing a small education center as a demo project. He asked me to join him and build a website, including internal LMS, so I started to learn how to analyze, practice,  design databases, and then develop PHP web apps at the same time (PHP was the easiest way that I thought in this time but later I discovered it’s not at all 😄😄) finally the project worked with too many bugs 😄 this made me crazy and motivated in the same time to do my best. But it was an excellent exercise for me. It doesn’t matter to my friend the time taken to develop this small project because I was a volunteer.

What is your professional background?

Currently, I’m an APM consultant in YourCompass a Dynatrace Solution Partner in UAE, I’m responsible for the following:

- mentoring and training customers and colleagues on the Dynatrace platform and best practices

- Developing v2 extensions & Apps

- implementation activities and fine-tuning

How does Dynatrace fit into the picture, and what was the biggest challenge Dynatrace helped you overcome?

Dynatrace was a significant shift in my life, as I’ve worked as a developer in PHP, MySQL, and Oracle. I saw the journey of the customers’ side to find the right solution, whether it’s for business or technical, so Dynatrace gave me the landscape from another aspect to inspect what practical solutions customers are using, like technologies or concepts. I had answers to most of the questions that I had before joining Dynatrace. This taught me how to find the most accessible ways and more efficient solutions, not to be restricted to a specific technology, and to think out-of-the-box to make a harmony between multiple solutions always to have the best.

What makes Dynatrace Community important to you?

I believe that things aren’t always straightforward as expected; they must have a hidden trick. So, the Community is important to me because I can see and highlight all these tricks and workarounds, and I always consider this the lesson we should learn in life, generally. When I see a new solution provided in any technology, the first question is: “Where is the trick? When to use?”

"The Community is important if you want to see the real-life use cases. All these are cumulative experiences that build our knowledge."

Within the Community, I mostly treat the other respective members’ questions as a challenge and am passionate about testing the problem by myself if possible to provide the best answer, so I consider it one of the most important ways to learn everything regardless it’s in Dynatrace or other, this is my advice to everyone is new to Dynatrace.

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know. What is your biggest joy or passion in life?

Sea life is my life. I love any activity related to the sea, like fishing trips, adventures in boats and seafood, swimming, and snorkeling. In Egypt, we have amazing nature and landscapes, so I’m popular as a Fisherman among my family and friends. After every sea trip, I go back to work with more energy to achieve more achievements in my career.

Also, I’ve got a great social life and friendships. I’m thankful to Allah for bringing these great people into my life (my wife, my son Selim, my little baby Laila, my great parents and brothers, and finally, YourCompass family for their supportive and productive mentality to do the best all the time, especially Mohamed Hamdy, who supported me in Dynatrace in Advance). There are many other people I hope to thank, but I’m now focusing on the most influential people in my life.

My bucket list is simple and not a secret for most people who know me well!

🔹  I  hope someday I'll have a big boat that is totally compatible with IoT.
🔹 Also, to bring all Dynatrace SaaS features to the Dynatrace Managed. 😄 😄 😄
