Hello Yanez! Shed some light on your life’s journey.

My life began in a small Italian village, where I was lucky enough to have parents who were always very attentive to new technologies. My mother signed up for one of the first satellite internet contracts (we were probably the only ones in our village) and started teaching me how to use the computer when I started elementary school. This is where my passion for technology was born, also because I was never particularly good at sports and didn't like to exert myself – a nice plate of pasta was much better.

For better or worse, I grew up with the widespread distribution of the internet, and from the very beginning, I was fascinated by this world. In fact, although as a child I dreamed of becoming a chef and opening a restaurant (I spent my days designing table layouts, logos, menus, etc.) – did I mention I love to eat? – I pursued a degree in computer engineering. Those were definitely the best years of my life (so far – quoting Homer Simpson), thanks to my experience in a HackerSpace (Muhack) – the most useful formative experience I've ever had – and my activity as a soccer referee – especially for personal and character growth.

After some work experiences, I moved to Milan and was contacted by Dynatrace. After a rather amusing interview (a projector fell on my head), I embarked on this wonderful work experience, which has been going on for over three years now.

Tell us about your work and what interesting things you’re working on.

At Dynatrace, I work in the Italian Services team as a Consultant. Specifically, my role is called Software Delivery (before starting here, I had no idea what that meant) – I assist clients post-sale with the adoption, optimization, and use of Dynatrace. The activities are varied, ranging from fine-tuning rules, creating dashboards, troubleshooting analyses, to developing monitoring projects. The variety and the fact that every day brings different requests with different technologies is what I find most enjoyable. It's definitely not a monotonous job, quite the opposite!

What makes you excited about being a part of the Dynatrace?

Dynatrace is my first real experience in a large company, not family-run – although I feel like my team is a family. I was immediately struck by the approach, both technically and socially. I was very surprised by the environment, and thanks to Dynatrace, I also learned what it truly means to have a culture of observability, which I will always carry with me. The part that always excites me (and is one of Dynatrace's many strengths) is the versatility of the work, the number of technologies monitored, and the different situations that arise. As I've already mentioned, this makes the job always feel new to me, and I never get tired of it.

What makes Dynatrace Community important to you?

I believe that the role of communities, in any field but especially in technology, is fundamental. I enjoy looking at unanswered questions that have been pending for a few days and trying to help, giving my contribution.

"I'm a proponent of transparency, clarity of information, and the exchange of ideas: it allows you to grow personally and professionally, and to discover new things. All of this is represented within our Community, and for this reason, I'm more than happy to contribute. "

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know. What is your biggest joy or passion in life?

I'm a relatively reserved person, so I won't reveal all my cards. But one thing not everyone knows about me (and I'm happy to share) is that I love visiting markets around the world and observing the locals. I believe it's one of the best ways to capture the essence of the country you're visiting.

So, it's no surprise that when I have a long weekend or some free time, I take flights to visit other cities in Europe.

What achievement are you most proud of?

From a professional standpoint, definitely participating in Perform 2025 as an instructor for one of the labs. On other fronts, it was my experience as a referee that led me to officiate good matches, above the level expected by many managers. And the outfit I created for my master's graduation, sewn by me (yes, I wore a skirt).

As for travel, I have two: the long trip to India, sleeping on trains, and the journey through Italy on a 50cc scooter, sleeping in a tent in the most desperate places.
