Hello Miguel! Shed some light on your life’s journey.

I am a migrant; my mother is Colombian, and my father is Peruvian. I have lived in many cities in Latin America, such as Lima – Peru, Riohacha – Colombia, Maracaibo – Venezuela, and Havana – Cuba. I truly feel very Latin American.

My journey with technology began with my mother teaching me how to use a PC with MS-DOS so I could play Prince of Persia. She always taught me much about how science and technology have transformed our world. I remember TV shows like Beakman's World and Isaac Asimov's Foundation books.

When I was 15, Ubuntu and Linux communities entered my life, significantly impacting how I viewed the world. I had a community with my friends, where we would gather on weekends to set up services like DHCP, DNS, and Apache, all eager to learn.

I worked for several years at IBM, taking on various roles until I became a leader in digital transformation and innovation projects. In 2021, I was introduced to Dynatrace. A friend recommended that I join the Dynatrace team for Latin America. After a few interviews, I had no doubt that it was a great decision.

Tell us about your work and what interesting things you’re working on.

I am a consultant on the ACE Service team. I spend most of my time working closely with clients to help them adopt Dynatrace in their companies, focusing on how to make it useful for their main challenges and helping them in their digital transformation.

Recently, I had the opportunity to conduct a Hot lab in Lima, and it was a great experience to share knowledge with our clients. Here are some pictures:

What makes you excited about being a part of the Dynatrace?

Dynatrace truly feels like a company where innovation is a top priority. The drive to improve what we do every day and learn new technologies, along with how Dynatrace creates an organic ecosystem, is something I value a lot.

I recently discovered the Carbon Impact application, and it makes me feel great to know that the company I work for also contributes to reducing its carbon footprint.

What makes Dynatrace Community important to you?

"The Dynatrace Community helped me a lot when I was starting out
in my learning journey."

On the Community, I found answers to many of my questions, and when I asked new ones, the responses were excellent.

Participating daily makes me feel like I’m part of the team that builds Dynatrace. I strongly believe in collaborative work; in my experience, great goals are achieved by the most collaborative, creative, and diverse teams.

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know. What is your biggest joy or passion in life?

I grew up near the beach, so I've always loved swimming. I currently wake up very early, around 4 a.m., to swim for an hour. Swimming gives me energy for the whole day.

Reading one book a month is a goal I try to make. I'm currently reading The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin, a book that was recommended to me as part of the challenge: Take the Bookworm Challenge!

On weekends, I practice photography. I would like to be recognized for my photos and be able to convey a message through the images, telling my story. I always carry my camera with me. Here are some of my pictures:

🔹 On my wish list is to start in 2025 to participate more actively in the jungle reforestation in my country. Taking part in my vacations to help a refuge or plant trees is part of what I'm working on this year. We currently have a lot of fires affecting our Amazon jungle, we need more people to worry about this.

🔹 I want to start studying astronomy. Understanding space science is something I have always wanted. I think I can combine this with astrophotography.
