Hello Marwan! Shed some light on your life’s journey.

From a young age, I was fascinated by exploration — both in the physical world and in the world of ideas. Growing up in a Mediterranean country, I loved the sea’s vastness, and through my years as a Sixer Leader in the Scouts, I discovered a passion for teamwork, leadership, and travel. At home, I enjoyed long chess matches with my brother, sharpening my strategic thinking long before I realized how much it would serve me in my career.

That curiosity eventually turned towards technology. I was intrigued by how a simple algorithm could translate logic into real business value. This led me to study Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Computer Science and Business, later strengthening my foundation with an MBA after my first degree. I continued my academic journey with further studies in control systems, where computer control became my main focus.

The 1990s were a formative era — writing in C and C++ before moving to Java and Python — and I loved the challenge of managing machines to deliver precise, valuable outcomes. My career naturally progressed into IT infrastructure and later into monitoring, which evolved into what we call Observability — and today, Observability with AI.

I took my passion further by studying Artificial Intelligence and designing AI courses to help organizations transition into this new era. Today, I stand as a partner of Dynatrace, enjoying the unique opportunity to introduce this technology from both the sales perspective and the hands-on implementation side.

My philosophy has remained constant: deliver measurable value to an organization’s everyday operations, and help others grow and succeed along the way.

What is your professional background?

I began my career as a deployer for a large numerical algorithm company shortly after graduation, working primarily with C at the time. Over the years, I expanded into developing business applications in multiple programming languages.

As demand grew for expertise in infrastructure, I transitioned into consulting, supporting clients in banking, telecommunications, utilities, and insurance sectors worldwide. My work focused on solving complex infrastructure challenges and leveraging a variety of monitoring tools.

Today, I am a consultant and a certified Dynatrace professional. I’m passionate about working with Dynatrace, a technology that has evolved at an incredible pace over the last decade, and I enjoy helping organizations unlock its full potential.

How does Dynatrace fit into the picture, and what was the biggest challenge Dynatrace helped you overcome?

Dynatrace played a key role in expanding my consulting portfolio, allowing me to engage with more customers and address a wide range of use cases. For many organizations with highly complex systems, it provided clear answers during critical “war room” situations and helped them transition to a fully integrated enterprise observability model.

I currently manage 3rd-generation Dynatrace environments, enabling customers to gain end-to-end visibility, accelerate problem resolution, and make data-driven decisions across their technology landscape.

What makes Dynatrace Community important to you?

I’ve been engaged with the Dynatrace Community since the very beginning because I believe everyone has something valuable to share. The Community offers a more informal environment where people contribute real-world insights from various industries, which I find extremely productive alongside Dynatrace ONE Support.

Often, if I don’t get an immediate answer from the Community, I’ll use it to summarize the case before raising a ticket. This not only speeds up preparation but also ensures I have a well-structured problem statement.

"My advice to new members is simple: engage early, share your experiences, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more you give to the Community, the more it will give back to you — both in knowledge and in career growth."

When I have time between customer engagements, I enjoy picking up a few open questions to see if I can help — which is why I’ve earned the “Helper” badge. But I’m not stopping there; my goal is to eventually reach “Guru” status.

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know. What is your biggest joy or passion in life?

I have a deep passion for traveling and exploring the world. As a WSET-qualified, I’ve developed a personal concept I call “knowing the world through its wine regions.” It’s a way of experiencing a country’s culture, history, and people through its vineyards and wines.

I’ve written one book on wine and planning on more, with my favorite being about the Bordeaux wine region, which is available on Amazon. In my spare time, I also organize wine tastings and social events, bringing people together to share great wines and great conversations.

I speak several languages, which makes my travels and events even more engaging and allows me to connect with people and cultures on a deeper level.

Outside of wine and travel, I’m an avid cyclist. Whether with family or friends, I make sure there’s always a bike ready wherever I go — I never leave a place without getting to know it on two wheels.

Exploration never stops — whether it’s through technology or discovering new places.Exploration never stops — whether it’s through technology or discovering new places.

My next step is to continue in consultancy while keeping a close eye on the next wave of the AI revolution. I want to actively contribute to it and be part of shaping its impact before I eventually retire.

What achievement are you most proud of?

One of my proudest achievements is introducing three customers to Dynatrace during my career. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the entire journey — from the first introduction to full implementation — and witness the tangible value it brings. I take pride in knowing that I’ve helped drive digital transformation for multiple organizations, delivering significant benefits in a relatively short span of their lifecycle.
