Dashboard the ingest of log data into dynatrace

I have a metric event configured which looks for gaps (or lack of) logs coming into dynatrace. I've created a log metric based on log occurrences and this seems to work fine. When investigating alerts associated with the lack of logs I've found that all of the timeseries dashboards use the log timestamp rather than a timestamp associated with dynatrace ingest. This means I cannot easily identify log ingest issues on a dashboard. I've found out how to enrich the logs using log processing with an ingest time but have no way of using this new ingest timestamp in a timeseries graph on a dashboard.

Please could someone advise if its possible to create a dashboard with a timeseries graph showing the ingest time of log data?

Hello @adriansmith,

I've sent this question to our developers, but they need some additional information:

  • "log timestamp rather than a timestamp associated with dynatrace ingest": do you want the log metric datapoint to have the timestamp equal to "log arrival time" rather than the log timestamp itself?
  • are you using Log Monitoring Classic or Logs On Grail?
  • could you provide the log metric definition and the log event definition?
