Is Grail needed to be enabled for notebook app

Hi, 
I am new to Dynatrace. I found that notebook app is useful for custom queries. Currently we dont have Grail enabled in our environment. Only getting OS related metrics. Just wondering if Notebook app can be installed without Grail and will it be useful without custom logs?

Dynatrace's new APPs are directly related to your contract model (DPS or not) and whether you have a Managed or SaaS environment.

Hi,

You need Grail for using Notebook app. But you can create log queries without DQL. 

Do you have some use case in mind?

Thanks for response. Yes I am looking to create a dashboard which give me summarized status of all the servers by each application. Currently I see one host dashboard which can be used for individual server. It would be better to have status for all the servers under single dashboard.

Maybe you can check existing dashboards as template. For example -> https://guu84124.apps.dynatrace.com/ui/apps/dynatrace.dashboards/dashboard/76f1c6c8-35f3-4f1e-8f5a-7... 

Then, you do not need to start from scratch.

Thanks can you share the name of the dashboard. I cant access as link(ID) will be different in your environment.
