Dynatrace custom app call to external website

Hello Devs, running into this issue:

I've tried many different configurations even disabling ssl checks with no progress. This is just an http call to another endpoint. We do this all the time with edge connect but when running an app locally I'm having a hard time. 

Any help is appreciated!

do you have any firewall or CA certificate in place?

I'm inside of a firewall and I've supplied the CA certificates with the NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS env variable

Where are you fetching that external data from?
We don't allow by default unauthorized https connections as they might imply a security risk. We do recommend accessing external sources from an app function to bypass that rule, if you are fetching directly from the app you could move the request into an app function
