Removal of expired maintenance windows

Hi, currently maintenance windows that expire are not removed.     We had an issue recently were all maintenance window slots were used up. 

We have created a workflow to run through and remove those windows that are older the X days..   

Could this feature be built in?   Could we have some configuration that say remove expired slots if > x days?    Rather than use workflows?
