Looking to upgrade from Dynatrace Managed to SaaS? See how

Grail and Dynatrace Managed

Hi,

Are there any plans to (partly) implement Grail functionalities also to Dynatrace Managed installations?

Grail is the Dynatrace database designed explicitly for observability data. It is a unified storage solution for logs, metrics, traces, events, etc. All data stored in Grail is interconnected within a real-time model that reflects the topology and dependencies within a monitored environment.

Grail is architected as a Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) data lakehouse, scaling to thousands of nodes. On-premises Managed Services deployments are more frequently associated with 3, 12, or up to 30-node clusters. The underlying infrastructure attributes must be consistently implemented, controlled, and balanced at a massive scale, which is not practical in physical data centers.

Grail is generally available for Dynatrace SaaS customers deployed on AWS with a phased rollout.

OK - thx Radoslaw.
Means current managed installations will be obsolete after some time...
Will we have possibility to move our customers to some more secure SaaS environments ? Something like EU/state/government envi ?

Dynatrace Managed continues to be a market-leading option for customers with mandatory on-premises requirements. Dynatrace is committed to supporting Managed customers and will continue to provide monthly product updates. However, the Dynatrace Managed roadmap does not include planned Grail support, as Grail was architected explicitly for SaaS and massively parallel processing.

One of the essential actions you can do now is to precisely define your organization's blockers to upgrading your Dynatrace Managed to SaaS. List all the blockers and associated applications - maybe not all monitored entities have equal requirements. Some might be moved to SaaS earlier, some later - a temporary hybrid deployment (SaaS and Managed) may be a good solution. Contact us to help you review the checklist and enable the frictionless upgrade.

Dynatrace also is committed to provide best-in-class security, privacy and compliance and extend it going further into the future to provide new and existing customers an environment where they can benefit from all Dynatrace capabilities.

Thank you - will try to propose the hybrid model in starting new customer implementation 🙂

With mostly managed customers this topic is very interesting for us as well.

A lot of great announcements at perform, but no way to benefit from them as a managed customer (yet).
