Process Group Availability vs Process Availability

mrc15816
Advisor

Hello,

In our environment, we employ Process Group Availability (PGA) and have developed automation to fulfill our requirements utilizing tags, host groups, last seen time, and technology. While we are assessing the process availability to ascertain if it would provide any additional advantages that warrant serious consideration, our initial testing suggests that process availability is not as robust as PGA. If anyone has transitioned from PGA to Process Availability, we would appreciate it if you could share your rationale or experiences.

Thank you,

Raj

Thanks in advance, Raj

Hi,

You can use process availability if your logic is alert me when process is not running in a host. This not cover alert me if process is not running after X minutes or alert me only when it is not running in host A + host B.
Logic is as simple as that.

If you need more complex logic, I would use process group availability or Davis Anomaly Detector using DQL.

Thank you for response @AntonPineiro. We currently have managed deployment and can’t take advantage of DQL. We are reviewing to see if we need to switch the monitoring & alerting or continue using PGA.

Thanks in advance, Raj
