Hi community and Dynatrace team,
Currently, the Dynatrace Keycloak extension does not collect the metric keycloak_user_events_total, even though it is exposed by the Prometheus endpoint.
This metric is particularly valuable for monitoring user-related activities such as logins, registrations, and other user events — which are essential for both security auditing and usage analytics.
It would be very helpful if the Keycloak extension could include keycloak_user_events_total in its default metric list, so that teams can gain deeper visibility into user behavior without needing to develop and maintain a custom Prometheus extension.
Use case example:
Track user login frequency and anomalies
Correlate authentication events with application performance
Detect spikes in failed logins for security monitoring
Adding this metric would make the Keycloak extension more complete and reduce the need for custom instrumentation.
The link to the extension we are using is this one:

Hope that this product idea will be integrated in future release,
Best regards,
Matteo

Great idea, Matteo! To maximize its impact, I recommend submitting this suggestion in the Product Ideas section on the Dynatrace Community:
https://community.dynatrace.com/t5/Product-ideas/idb-p/DynatraceProductIdeas
There, you can:
Describe your request to include keycloak_user_events_total
Outline your use cases (login tracking, performance correlation, security monitoring)
Invite other users to vote and comment
This will put your idea directly in front of Dynatrace Product Management and increase its chances of being prioritized in a future release.
Best regards,
