Associate Cert. Question: Data Retention Periods Fixed VS Configurable?

ericamiller

Hello, I am currently studying for the Associate certification. I have noticed that in several questions talking about data retention periods. There are often two answers that have the correct value but slightly different context:

  • Configurable up to X days
  • Fixed at X days

How can I know which services are configurable "up to" and which ones are "fixed"? There's a lot of jumpy wording, with some values being stored for "at least [X] days" and others just being stated as being "stored for [X] days".

I'm referring to the documentation here

Thanks!

Hi,

I would say

  • Configurable up to X days

Because you can limit or extend the retention period up to 35 days in the CMC

It really depends on the question. In general terms, if talking about SaaS it's fixed (exception is data based on Grail, eg. logs), while configurable for Managed.

If you're talking about the question below, in the Taste of the Test, the correct answer is "Fixed at 35 days":

For retention periods for Managed, the following apply:

Thanks for the answer!
