Can I create Custom alerts on JDBC pool usage? What is the cost associated with it?

Hi @TT

Dynatrace has built-in OneAgent extensions for the major JDBC pool types (Tomcat, Apache Commons DBCP, WebLogic, WebSphere,etc..), which expose pool metrics via JMX.

You can create a Metric Event or custom alert based on metrics such as active connections, pool utilization, idle connections, or waiting threads, depending on what is available in your environment.

Cost: The extensions themselves don't have an additional cost. The consumption depends on your licensing model:

Classic licensing: metric ingestion consumes DDUs.
Platform licensing (Grail): metric ingestion and retention follow the Grail consumption model.

In general, the cost scales with the number of monitored pools, hosts, and ingested metrics rather than being a fixed fee.

Thanks,

Sujit
