I had a really interesting issue the other day. Simple but very intriguing.
Sally reached out to me and stated "Chad, as I look at the Databases in Dynatrace, I only see the classic view and not the new view. I've narrowed it down to my permissions as Kate is able to see the data in the New UI but I cannot."
First and foremost I compared Sally and Kate, both are on the same team and I was able to validate that yes, their Role Based Access Control grants them the same level of access. So we ruled out Permissions right off the bat.
I then cloned the permissions and applied it to my tester account, So I could simulate what the user was experiencing. Alas, I too was able to function just as Kate and could not recreate what Sally was doing.
I reached out to Sally and set up a working session. Sally was indeed using the Gen 3 UI, with the grey menu bar on the right. So everything is still working as expected. Then Sally went to Databases Classic. This is where I paid close attention, Sally clicked into her database and it took her to the classic (Gen 1 View):
I noticed right away that Sally wasn't getting the prompt to see the "new" (Gen 2) design. This is where she thought that she was locked into Classic Mode.
We expected a screen looking like this:
I was able to conclude that the first time the user ran into that new view notice, they clicked the 'X' in the upper right hand corner. While that will remove the box from the immediate view, it doesn't truly get rid of it, it just places it down at the bottom of the screen.
To which we can confirm its located at the bottom:
The user opted to use the new (Gen 2) page and saw exactly what Kate was seeing.
Granted, there is a Gen 3 UI which is the latest, but the users will cross that bridge when they are ready.
I hope this helps, it was an interesting claim, and I got a bit of a chuckle out of it.
