Different deployment models for Dynatrace that does require use of active gate

Hi

Could you please clarify the following 3 questions from customer (from senior Architect)?

1.Does Dynatrace at least have some common OOTB integrations with popular PaaS/ SaaS e.g. Azure or ServiceNow at least.

please expand on "some metrics" where there is no agent/connector OOTB - what is the extent of the APM functionality we can get from say an unsupported SaaS- what alerts/ events can we see ?

2. Main functions of ActiveGate--What specifically is the network overhead? Add some metric to define the network usage.

3.Is there a different deployment model for Dynatrace that does require extensive use of ActiveGates/ Proxies in DMZ? Is this required purely for connectivity to the Server in AWS or does it perform throttling/ compression of data?

Thanks&Regards

  1. Yes
    https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/cloud-platforms/azure/monitoring/configure-azure-monitoring/
    https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/integrations/third-party/problem-notification/servicenow-integration/
  2. ActiveGates have several options. For example it can be used as proxy between agents and server when your agents are in DMZ. If you will go SaaS, you can send traffic to DT instance throught activegate to not expose servers public. For Managed ActiveGate (Cluster) can be used as entrypoint for sending data from mobile apps monitored by RUM. You can read more here: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/deploy-dynatrace/activegate/. Generally ActiveGate is compressing data so traffic can be reduced in 70%.
  3. I've answered you previously. ActiveGate can simplify network rules because there is only one entry point in DMZ. About AWS and ActiveGate more info can be found here: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/aws#enable-access-to-your-amazon-account

Thank you so much Sebastian for the response

one more question pleasae

How to monitor remote nodes without oneagent installed? Or

The detail of the metrics captured on Saas/PaaS without agent

Give me more informations about what kind of nodes? You mean AWS / Azure? Or some devices that are in network but you cannot install OneAgent on them?

they require metrics on SaaS/PaaS without agent installed node:Azure

Actually under monitoring Pass/Saas section customer has below question

Monitoring PaaS/SaaS: "expand on "some metrics" where there is no agent/connector OOTB - what is the
extent of the APM functionality we can get from say an unsupported SaaS- what
alerts/ events can we see ? "

For Azure you just need to configure integration in Dynatrace. That's all. There is nothing more you can configure. Azure is sharing some metrics about entities using API, dynatrace is fetching those data and pushing it to dynatrace.
