Issue with My Host Monitoring

Nicky23
Contributor

I am facing an issue with my host monitoring, which stopped functioning due to a licensing problem. Fortunately, I have resolved the licensing issue, but now I find that the dashboards for the database only display some metrics, whereas I used to have access to all of them. This limitation hinders my ability to fully track the performance and health of my systems. Could anyone provide guidance on how to restore the complete monitoring of metrics in the dashboards? I appreciate any advice or solutions you can share.

Best regards.

Hi @Nicky23, the metrics should work if you solved your licensing problems. There are some of them that consume DDU's that are billable and others that don't because they come in the oneagent combo. In order to help you, it would be good if you could indicate what type of licenses you had problems with and what specific metrics are not working for you. Perhaps with these additional clues we can give you better help.

The true delight is in the finding out rather than in the knowing.

Hello @DanielS
On the issue of licensing it was in relation to the host units I had using all my hosts but one went up in memory and two database hosts stopped monitoring, so I changed one to infrastructure mode and all the hosts are already monitoring well, without However, in the database dashboard only some graphs are shown, not all, previously after that incident all were shown.

@DanielS These are the metrics that are not displayed.

Hi @Nicky23 do you have any David Data Units (DDUs) left on your license? The metrics you shared via the screenshot, are gathered via an extension if I'm not mistaking, and extensions use DDUs. So, even if you have enough Host Units to monitor the hosts, you may be out of DDUs, causing the data loss for these metrics.

Hello @Nicky23

Happy to hear that the licensing issue has been resolved! Have we tried restarting the OneAgent on the impacted host to possibly re-establish the connection and refresh the metrics being collected? Is the same issue seen in an incognito browser as well after resolving the licensing issue?

Please, what is the command to restart oneagent on AIX?

Here is a document to restart the OneAgent on AIX - https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/setup-and-configuration/dynatrace-oneagent/installation-and-operatio... I hope this helps!

I tried with the command: .\oneagentctl.exe --set-proxy=my-proxy.com --restart-service but this came up, do you know why it is or how I should do it please: .\oneagentctl.exe" is not recognized as an internal or external command,
executable program or batch file.

You’re trying to use the Windows executable command 😉

Go to the OneAgent CLi directory, default on Linux/Unix is /opt/dynatrace/oneagent/agent/tools and run the command:
./oneagentctl --restart-service

I already restarted the oneagents and there is no change, I also spoke to support but they haven't given me a response since the previous week, any other solution please...
