Monitoring Bandwidth Utilization for RUM and Data Transmission to Dynatrace

Hi Team,

Is there a way to monitor or estimate the bandwidth utilization of Real User Monitoring (RUM)? Additionally, I would like to understand how to check the network bandwidth consumed by machines when sending data to Dynatrace.

Hey @Vikas_g1997 

There are a bunch of self monitoring metrics which you can find when searching "dsfm" in the metrics app. I couldn't spot anything for RUM bandwidth but there are beacon counts so if you get an average beacon size you can roughly estimate it.

As for bandwidth consumed by agents, again couldn't spot anything specific but there are traffic metrics for Activegates. So assuming your agents are communicating through Activegates you could use those metrics to better understand traffic.

Data usage heavily depends on how the app is instrumented, but there is a guidance on how to get an estimation:
