Monitoring Progress OpenEdge – capturing database statements with Dynatrace

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here had experience monitoring applications that use Progress OpenEdge with Dynatrace?
My goal is to capture database statements (queries). From what I’ve researched, this doesn’t seem to be natively supported by the OneAgent.

I’d like to know:

• Is there any way to enable this visibility directly in Dynatrace?

• If not, what would be the recommended approach to collect these statements — via OpenEdge logs, OpenTelemetry, or by developing a custom extension?

• Has anyone already implemented such an integration and could share best practices?

Dynatrace doesn’t natively deep‑instrument Progress OpenEdge to capture database statements via OneAgent today. So the best approach is to leverage OpenEdge → OpenTelemetry Collector → Dynatrace for traces and metrics. For SQL/ABL statements, you can ingest them as logs and then use DQL to search or alert in Logs & Events until this is supported out-of-the-box by Dynatrace.
