Hello Dynatrace Community!
I'd like to give you heads-up on an important change to our documentation.
Starting with Dynatrace version 1.278, we'll have two separate and self-containing documentation sets:
Dynatrace Docs focusing on Dynatrace SaaS
Dynatrace Managed Docs
Until now, we had one documentation site that covered both deployment options. However, as the latest Dynatrace migrates to Grail and AppEngine, the two deployment options will be drifting apart, and eventually Dynatrace Managed and Saas docs will only share a small subset of articles.
To avoid confusion and provide a better user experience, we decided to split the documentation into two sites. This way, each site will focus on the specific needs and features of each deployment option, and users will be able to find the information they need more easily and quickly.
By having two separate documentation sites, we can offer several benefits to you, our users:
Each site will contain only the information that is relevant and applicable for that deployment option. You won't see any irrelevant or outdated content that might confuse them or lead them to wrong actions.
Each site will have its own navigation, search, and feedback. You'll be able to find what you're looking for faster and easier, and we will be able to measure and improve the quality and performance of each site.
If you are a user of our documentation, you will notice some changes when you access our new sites:
Please visit our new documentation sites and explore them. Let us know what you think about them: what you like, what you don't like, what you miss, what you suggest.
You can use the feedback widget at the bottom of each page, or you can simply share your thoughts in this thread.
This step builds a foundation for all the exciting changes coming to Dynatrace docs in coming months. Stay tuned for more updates!

The new website and URL are now live.

Thank you.

I appreciate the split!
Will the link to the documentation also be updated in the UI /support resources section? As far I can see today the URL in Managed UI still leads to https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs.
It would be nice if you could get to the Managed documentation directly if you're in a Managed environment. This would also benefit all Dynatrace users who missed this information and keep looking in the SaaS docs.

Good question. @jaroslaw_orlows in which Managed release will this be fixed? The next/upcoming preferably?

We should be able to fix this much earlier. We have means to redirect the targets outside the product. Just need to remove the logical trap we caught ourselves into 🙂

Any update to this?

Sorry. Kind of confusing. Which is the specific link for Dynatrace Managed Server.
Whichever that I try to click it seems to bring me back to one agent link.

Hi,
While helping one of the forum members, I found a bug in the documentation display. Notice that when I go to the very bottom of the page, the main text is cut off and more cannot be loaded. In addition, the document section menu overlaps the bottom menu section, which also displays in a strange way (very stretched).
I'm using the latest Safari browser.

I'm happy to see this split of the documentation and the increased clarity that it brings to the Managed customers.
As one of those customers, though, there are several places where links take you to an "Upgrade to SaaS" page which is just annoying. I would have thought that most people using Managed have a reason to stay on Managed and being sold SaaS through the documentation adds no value.
One example is from the root of the documentation, click on "Automations", the first icon you see is one for "Workflows" which takes you to "Upgrade from Managed to SaaS deployment"

Agreed!

Can we ensure that no new functionality is released without complete documentation. For example, there is a banner that says switch to new metrics in the platform from the built in metrics. But no official documentation exists on why, what are the differences, what will be affected by the change? Will we break any linage, history etc. Which are all important to know before making a change.
Thanks

@UstatSingh Can you please tell us more about the banner itself? Does it pertain to a particular product area? We're not doing any such campaign for metrics in general. I'd be happy to help, but would need to track the team responsible for this first. Thanks!

The Dynatrace Managed: Planned cluster upgrade notification mail sent out, states:
"See upcoming changes and learn more at Dynatrace release notes page."
This links to https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/release_notes, which on its turn forwards to https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/whats-new/release-notes which is in the SaaS department.
The link in the email should point to https://docs.dynatrace.com/managed/whats-new/release-notes/managed
Funny enough, searching from /docs for the Managed release notes ends up on the equivalent page in that section:
https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/whats-new/release-notes/managed.
The Managed releases overview page (both locations) looks like an unfinished page. Especially if you compare them to the SaaS overview page. Still under construction? Missing are also the components, ActiveGates, Agents, API...
The (SaaS) release notes pages, https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/whats-new/release-notes still has references to Managed.
On the second line stating "Dynatrace Managed—New versions are rolled out within configurable maintenance windows.", and at the end with the supported version and release schedule.
But this page has no clear link to "for Managed see", but I assume that all references to Managed are to be removed from this section.

@fstekelenburg, thanks for feedback! We haven't split the Doc sets completely. We're in the transition period to make sure users have time to adapt and we're able to catch the cases like the email one you mention (already being worked on). We're just adding finishing touches and all the problems you pointed out should be gone by the end of the year, including an easy way to get to Managed docs after a complete split. Thanks again!

Remark:
Currently, you have to know the Managed documentation link, to get there.
https://docs.dynatrace.com/ forwards to /docs, and that has no reference to the Managed section.
Also, the Release Notes and Documentation links in the Resources section of the main corporate site at https://www.dynatrace.com/ only link to the SaaS section and have no reference to Managed.

Hi @jaroslaw_orlows ,
Are there any plans to update link in older dynatrace community threads? It's. a bit disappointing that currently most of dynatrace doc links in older community post are ending into 404 😞 . Example: https://community.dynatrace.com/t5/Open-Q-A/What-s-the-difference-between-Cluster-Activegate-and-Env...
Thanks!

the only thing i can't understand its why! the nav bar does not have all links, in any of the 3 new documentations.
